McMillan?

Texas Solo

B.S. High Master
I need a stock for a Savage #12 Target action, 3 screw 3.44" spacing. I only find 2 available.
1) HS Precision, has aluminum bedding block. I don't care for the way their cheek piece adjusts or looks. $700
2) McMillan A3, has 3 pillars. I like their cheek piece much better. Also their paint schemes. $1000

So the question is if the McMillan is worth the extra $$$. I know it's one of the top stocks in competition today.
Also, if I'm going to spend $700, why not $1000? I'm probably answering my own question but would still like opinions.
This is for an FTR 308.

It’s not an existing inventory McMillan, but your post got me to check. The H&S stocks these 3 screw guns came with as LRPV’s got a lot of us incurably bitten by the accuracy bug, and set club records.

An H&S stock with no mag well cutout is itself a weapon. I feel like I could remove the barreled action from it and use it to roundly pulverize my Yukon.

Other stock makers and accuracy tuners contemplate how much flexibility should be built into a stock. H&S assumed that a rifle might be just wide enough to keep a big man from falling through a roof gap. Just like accurate actions need not be flexible, they concurred.

I do not know which material is intended to reinforce the other, - one is the aluminum of a baseball bat, while the shell of an H&S stock presents a rubbing hazard to every other rifle stock in your safe, and is impervious to common chemicals. It’s also time-defying, - I’m still waiting for my old ones to develop some sort of surface patina, like other stocks, and even cut stone does.

The McMillan is appealing in that it is more beautiful, each seems truly unique, and they are certainly less plentiful. In competition, looks matter. If we pour heart and soul into gear that has that special aesthetic “something”, we will invariably try harder to make it work on the line, and sometimes just may succeed, every C-8 is technically better than every 288, but none are equally loved.
