McMillan issues

Just checking around to see if this is a new common issue.

While a new barrel and action was at the 'smith getting chambered, the new McMillan Shehane tracker stock came in and went out for clear coat.
Fast forward to this weekend, and the stock met action for the first time. Major issue. The stock appears incorrectly made for the action.
The action is a Defiance Rebel with the target tang.
We have never had an issue with any of our McMillan stocks up to this point, but I'm curious if anyone else has had any issues this year. Will be calling McMillan in the a.m. to see what course of action is.

Funny you mention this. I ordered a McMillan Super 50 BR for a BAT EX 2.0 in January 2020. It arrived February 2021, inletted for the shorter EX-S action. I called and they tried to claim it was just “the shorter version of the EX” and then agreed to revise it. Despite the fact that this stock was designed around the EX action and they obviously have the CAD files for it, they made me send in the action. They said it would take 6-8 weeks for the repair, in March. Obviously now in June I still have no stock and no action.

When I called to order a couple new stocks for my Bordens (which they had previously inletted stocks for) they informed me that they no longer had that file. Therefore I would have to send in the action. Some things did not get transferred to the new owners. I also wanted a camo color that I had previously ordered. No luck there either, said they can’t do that anymore. I sniffed out something fiishy so I ordered them with no inlet. Glad I did.

i bought a edge went to set the action a defiance ruckus it set in the stock so crooked the holes would not line up. The stock sucks and I am out a bunch of hard earned money.

How much room is there between the trigger and the trigger guard? Going lower may cause another problem. I'd be surprised if this is the case here but many stocks are not designed to blend in with the tall target tangs on some actions.

I have a bad attraction to anything they put their name on.
I have 1 of thier stocks here now that I'm working on.
Factory finnish is the nicest I've seen on a moulded stock. Action bedding is moulded in color, anschutz rail fit so tight no screws were necessary.
Customer name and order # also on stock for future reference when calling Kelbly's, so they can pull up build specs.
Top shelf all the way around if you ask me.

Does that particular stock have target and 700 tang options? It looks like a 700 tang mold.

It does look like a rem tang intlet, not a square tang. They will stand behind it if they made a mistake. Check your order confirmation to see how it was ordered originally. McMillan has changed ownership but all the people making the stocks are still there. Quality has not changed. I use a lot of them.
