McGowen Rifle bbls

I chambered a 22 Creedmoor for a buddy on a McGowan 1-8T button barrel. It shoots everything really well and it looked good inside too

I had a 222 rem chambered in a McGowen bbl. Shoots in the one's and low two's at 100yds. Pretty happy for a bbl. I got on sale for $165 shipped. I haven't done anything to the brass and I'm shooting 52 bib's.

The only one I have is from Illinois from many years ago, it shot an .057" five shot group at 100 yards outdoors in Colorado. Was a 6br 12 twist 88 Berger. I trust Aaron and Gabes advice on this and for comp today I would only choose Kreiger or Bartlein. If it was a budget build for varmints I might try em again.

I hope none of you have to deal with any type of customer service. I did never again. I was just trying to drop a reamer off so they could chamber a barrel the guy was a big A$$hole.

Being a little older I go back to St. Ann Illinois with Harry McGowan. Harry made very good Button Barrels back then. He at one time sold Barreled Actions on German 98's.
If I am correct back then $17 extra got me a Premium barrel it was a .270 on my 98 Action.
More than once it shot a three shot clover leaf group at 300 yards. It was one fine Elk Rifle.
Also back then one of the Son's was a Fine Stock Man. Harry always had a few fine Walnut Ruffed out Stocks hanging on the Shop Wall.
Dad was fine Gentlemen.
