How Much Should "You" Believe?

Jim,

What I want to know/hear is some qualification of your statements. Like, how many rounds with this 0.120 MOA 500 yard group you referenced, and how many times you have repeated this group.

I am sure there are some "wallet groups" of 1.5 inch 1000 yard practice targets, and Hall's 0.686 inch 600 record speaks for itself.....but you know as well as I that these are rare occurrences. Most would be very pleased to shoot a 0.250 MOA group at 600 (1.5 inches), and 3.5 to 4.5 inches on a SINGLE relay at 1000 is good for bragging rights. Also, when you consider a yearly agg. at 600 or 1000, those one-match group averages get substantially larger.

Your statement about Hall's 0.114 MOA 600 yard world record, and "1.5 to 2 inches" at 1000 need to be put into the proper context, and IMO need to be qualified.

If you want to discuss this further, please PM me, as I do not want to interfere with the opening post.

Jack, I had 20+ relay wins this year, was 2nd with the LG. at the national,5th over all in the 2 gun. and set a new 10 agg. IBS record with the LG. I Don't BS. I even had a 2" in a match that didn't count because somebody shot on my target........ jim

Tom, Thats my point,it happens during testing. I do know someone at Harry Jones did shoot a 5/8 group for 5 shots at 1000 yds. and it was done with other shooter there. My smallest in a match was 2" for five but it had ten on it,but high 2's are the best for 5shots and 4's for ten shots.
I do know a guy that shoots score and holds a bunch of records in short range had 7000 rds. on a barrel and won the national........ jim

Captain Mal, I built the rifle in question that Charlie Brown shot that 1.007 inch group. I built it four years ago as a 6BR. He shot it over 3000 rounds (he said) till the throat was well worn out. I cut it back and rechambered it to a 6 Dasher. He has shot it for the last two years in our weekly matches as well as his other two rifles. I can't say for sure he has 6000 rounds but he has well over 4000 for sure. What is for sure is it's a Mcgowen barrel, 6mm Dasher, 105 Berger Hybreds, shooting H4350. I was there when Mike measured the group. I also use 36.4 gr of H4350 in my 6mm Dasher with Wolf primers. It gives me the best SD of any combo I have tested. I built a 16 inch drop tube and pour it slow. No other problems. Those are the facts not just talk. Eric Bostrom
