Maybe a little OT

I have a 243 take-off barrell I want to ream and put on a Reming 700.
Does anyone know if a 6mm-06 Imp. reamer will clean up the 243 chamer and work for the conversion?

Thanks,
Don

I don't see any problem with this conversion. You will have to modify the magazine to work with the longer case-bullet.

You Will need a reamer print for you 6-06imp as the tarer is usualy more then on a 243 case this will mean you might have to take the whole chamber off. Do you allready have the dies??? if you dont you would be better off going a 6mm 284 as it has almost the same capacity and you will remove the old chamber and throat when rechambering and dies are easy to obtain. Now if you already have dies i would do a chamber cast as factory chambers are usualy in the larger size on saami specs and give to to your gunsmoth to measure against his reamer to find out how much barrel you will lose i think you will loose nearly the whole chamber as the 06 cases are slightly smaller at the base. The other thing with a conversion to 6..-284 is you will not need to rethread the barrel just run the reamer in the correct depth and it is over.

Cheers Bill
