Mark around Circumference of Head Stamp on Factory Brass?

Lots of excitement over no big deal.

These rings are made from the Bunter Die in the manufacturing process:

Note that the chamfer is a tapered diameter nearly to the edge of the embossing type. The Bunter was set just a tiny bit too deep and the result was the unimportant ring shown above. Yes, it should have been caught and adjusted but it was really no big deal and with demand and speed being of the utmost importance as demanded by us shooters, Hornady chose to ignore the visual defect.

Carry on and enjoy your shooting!:)

YUP,.. just Buy,.. Starline or, Peterson for, the 6.5 Creed !
BOTH,.. are, great, Brass, !
Just remember to use, a Tiny Bit, less Powder, in the Peterson, as it's, a Bit,. "thicker" !

Till i noticed gas leakage around the primer on 2 cases. On firing, the primer backs out an additional .003" to make contact with the bolt face.

There are exceptions to every rule or occurrence. If this was a huge, massive problematic occurrence you would have seen an equally massive recall by the manufacturer.

;)

I've seen that on Remington brass and Winchester brass in the past. It didn't affect anything so I kept loading and shooting it through a normal life-cycle.

Caused by slight alignment of the stamping dies and the forming of the brass, at the head. Nothing to worry about, load and shoot/use it.
I should add I have seen simular on other makes, most recently on some new Lapua brass for the 6.5CM. It just happens, on occasion in production.

Neck defects-

Annealing has seemed to help the remaining 10 brass out of a box of 20.

Fired 2 times after the annealing.

Used to run 7.62 at lake city. That looks like a defect from an operation called headturn. Its supposed to cut the case head the right spec after heading operation. Those look like an old rimmed case. I dont know how they make cases at Federal but thats what it would have been at lake city. Doug
