March vs NF

Humor can keep many of us from ending up in a loonie bin. Too late for some. That face was my interpretation of Arte Johnson from Laugh In, " Want a Walnetto Baby"? "You bet your bippie". My wife has that in a large portrait hanging in her glass studio to cheer up some of her left leaning students. Actually helps. Whatta Hobby!

Completely agreed.
Problem is some would get their knickers all
knotted & the fued would be on.
Glad you didn't take it that way !

To all a great day !

To the vast majority of shooter's eyes the NF comp will come out on top. Im not going to pretend that that other scopes have just as good of an image. Im going to push the other manufactures to beat it. I don't and never will trust the NF comp. We had a LOT of reliability issues with them. Did they fix them on newer scopes? Who knows, they wont admit to a problem so they cant admit to a fix. I have zero time for that BS. So lets go March and Kahles. We are waiting for the best glass AND 100% reliability! At this time, there is no scope that has both. The hardest question to answer is when a customer asks what scope he should put on his BR or F Class rifle.

My favorite scope for Varmint for Score is the NF 15x55. My favorite scope for my LV Group Rifle is the March HIgh Master 48x.

The only other scope I use is for one Match. That is the March Majesta 8x to 80x 56 for The TackDriver.

However, this year I kept it below 60x for most of the Match. The 80x was pretty much useless.

Seems to me these manufacturers are making it unnecessarily hard on themselves. No need for a dedicated BR scope to have 6x, 8x, or 10x mag range, fancy turrets, huge amount of travel, illumination. Something like a 20-60x50 with reliable POA, clicks, tracking and great glass, good side focus mechanism is all that’s required. Maybe keep it 30mm so it doesn’t weigh more than about 30 oz.

For those that shoot March and Kahles and do not have a scope checker, how do they know their scope is holding point of impact any better than a NF ?

After my comp shit the sheets in the middle of a match, I bought two scope checkers and two frozen scopes. One dovetail, one picatinny, all my scopes get checked now.

I do not believe any company in immune from the occasional bad scope. It was the attitude of the rascal on the end of the phone when I called that soured me. Sold them all.
My comp rifles wear March High Masters.

So far my comps and ATACR scopes have served well. Had an issue with mushy clicks. Called last week and rep told me how to fix over the phone. All good.

I agree that any scope can have problems, I had one years ago that went tits up and it was very obvious..
I only know three people that own scope checkers, if I had one I’d use it but I don’t.
I’m like thousands of other guys that just shoot what they like to shoot and have a back up scope just in case.

Agree and have said that for more years than some reading have been alive, lol. We thought we had it, and then it didn't do one of those important things.

I was told many years ago (pre comp scope) from someone at nightforce that 3.5x was kind of a noticeable "max" for the optical things. They can't have been too wrong, as that's still the winner every time multiple scopes have been lined up focused on the same target at our range. Users eyesight never mattered anytime we've done that, the same order was always unanimous, but we don't have sponsorships either. We pretty much play that game anytime something new comes out, and it gets drug to the matches. Nothing has beaten the comp since 2013 yet, and I've looked through shit that doesn't even "exist" yet!......but we do have to aim with them so there is that!

Well, you're in luck. You've just described the March-X 10-60X56 HM almost to a T. It has a 34mm tube because you want the stability. It's 32 oz. I'm not sure why you dislike 6X zoom, but it's sort of required for a high magnification scope that will meet your weight requirements.

I'll just leave this here.
