...I just believe that if you pay $2600 + for a target scope, it should have a lifetime warranty. Just my opinion.
I wonder what it is about scopes makes people think that a lifetime warranty should be required? I'm not dissing your opinion, but I have a $2000 Canon DSLR camera that does not have a lifetime warranty. I two $20K+ cars that don't have lifetime warranties. I have a $300K+ house that does not have a lifetime warranty (sure I have insurance). I have any number of high cost electronic, optical, mechanical, etc... items that do not have lifetime warranties. I think a lifetime warranty is great. I think that it adds value and if a manufacturer offers it, it's a compelling selling point. I don't think it should be required just because an item is expensive. Your point is taken about the longevity not being proven. I would be willing to bet that if you came across a defect after 5 years that could *truly* be attributed to manufacturing error, that they would work with you to resolve the issue, especially if they were at all concerned about their reputation. That's not a guarantee, just my opinion. I've run across plenty of examples where manufacturer's "do the right thing" in a case like that because they care about their product and they care about their reputation.
Anyhow, I just thought it was a little amazing that the warranty thing would be the deciding factor keeping people from buying an outstanding piece of glass. 5 years is a pretty long time. I wish Ford would give me 5 years on my truck.
