I am using a pair of Sig Alpha1 rings.
The extra weight of the Majesta compared to say the 10-60X56 HM or similar riflescopes, is not really a problem for rings.Any particular rings you guys prefer for a scope of that weight?
Thanks! The extra weight of the Majesta compared to say the 10-60X56 HM or similar riflescopes, is not really a problem for rings.
That said, I'm partial to the Burris XTR Signature rings with the inserts. The inserts have many advantages in my opinion:
- Preserve the finish of an expensive riflescope.
- Proper alignment of the riflescope in the rings; no stress.
- Better grip on the riflescope compared to a metal ring.
- And most important: setup the riflescope so that it's really close to mechanical zero (optical sweet spot) at 1000 yards. At those prices, I want the best IQ.
What reticle is that? Some 600yd shooting and I'll have 1000yd views in a day or two once I'm done putting the video together. Overall I LOVE this thing so far.
@Ranger188 is correct. It's the MTR-W1. The WFD doesn't really suit my shooting style but the W1 definitely does (as does the W2 which is basically the same reticle but no vertical reticle on the top side). I like both but use the vertical aspect just enough that decided to stick with the W1. I have one friend with both a W1 & WFD, another friend with the WFD and another with the W2 and they're all happy with their choices. What reticle is that?
Interesting initial review. I just want to address this issue of sunshade and amount of light. In my experience, the only time there may be a discernable difference in perceived amount of light coming into an optic like a camera lens, a riflescope or a spotting scope is at the very minimum magnifications. In fact, I have only ever seen that with wide angle lenses. Some 600yd shooting and I'll have 1000yd views in a day or two once I'm done putting the video together. Overall I LOVE this thing so far.
Where did you get the scope rings? My Majesta with March titanium rings, color matched sunshade and George Donovan leather caps. Very cool in my opinion …..
