Mans Best Friend

We have one for the same reason. He's more black and tan. Has a menacing bark, but sweet once he's introduced.
The last part describes both my previous yellow labs, and my newest just shy of 10mos. At 65lbs and still growing her bark will deter any stranger.

Couple pics from yesterday's walk, Brandy amid the blooming Camas...

Couldn't resist this one, just my pocket camera...

So sorry to hear that you are going through the loss of your best friend. God usually grants us the gift of enjoying the love and enduring the loss of several dogs as we go through life.

The best cure for your sadness is a new pup, or even a seasoned dog who has lost the love of his or her life. There is one out there who needs a guy like you as much as you need her. jd

Mikaela keeps me moving is an understatement! She was the pup that wouldn’t sit still.
Loves to hunt anything that’s moving, trained her on pheasant, my walk is usually 1-2 miles in the mornings, she‘s running. Sometimes it’s best to take her to the BIL’s ranch and let her run the river.

Since I started this thread I’ll update with this little guy. Our daughter drives for FED-X and was out in corn field country and saw this little gut trotting down the road. She stopped and picked his up. Wasn’t chipped ran some adds and no one claimed him so she kept him. All 4.5 lbs.

Those are the hardest decisions a dog lover has to make, take the time to mourn her loss, you'll know when you're ready to fill the void. For me, the mourning period is about 3mos, then I find myself searching for a new companion.
