Any thoughts on a new member special after you add restrictions, perhaps buy one year and receive 6 free months, or perhaps buy two year membership recive 25% off, just suggestions, there are a lot of different types of incentives you could use. Sometimes creativity will produce new members and spur more interest.

Rather like penalizing those that are carrying the load now. I fear that would really generate resentment between those that contribute and those that don't .
 
I think it's a good idea, we pay to watch TV with alot less content. Like any organization a few do most of the work for the many, and can become overwhelming. This is a great site and thanks to those that make it happen.
 
Regarding sponsorship -- this is something we do actively pursue. This site could not have grown and thrived without the support of key vendors and manufacturers. With the traffic we have, the benefits of advertising can be great. If someone has a background in sales and marketing, I would like to discuss the opportunities. Compensation would be a combination of a monthly base line with percentage of contract.

This could be a good opportunity for a retired person with some sales experience.

Contribute if you want, contribute if the forum boss needs you too or asks since he’s the one providing the service, but don’t demand that others pay. There are a lot of forum members who don’t pay, but who provide a lot of knowledge on here. They clearly are contributing to the forum in other ways.

I am done, I am now prepared for the hate that is about to rain down on me.

Read all you want for free.
Post 20 times or 30 days for free, then pay.
Only 1 or 2 classified ads unless you pay.
Classified ad limits should be different for Silver, Gold, Titanium?.... I know this has been discussed and IIRC the Boss says Silver and Gold can't be different due to software issues. Need to work on that.... Should be more of difference between Silver and Gold. That will encourage more members to upgrade.
Add another upper level of membership for those that want to step up and pay more.
Add another lower level of membership to make it easier on those that say they can't afford it. Literally anyone can afford to give $10.00. Call it aluminum or whatever you want....:confused:.
Have some American made hats and shirts made and sell for a profit. Give a hat to the Titanium members. When guys go to the range, they'll be advertising and bragging about what a great site this is = more paying members.

Shooting is an expensive sport. If you shoot for fun, you can afford to donate some money. If you're shooting and not contributing, shame on you! Quit being so cheap, simple as that. This site is better than any magazine and cheaper too. It is delivered to you personally everyday, not once a month. It is truly pathetic that less than 4% carry the load for the rest. If you're not in the 4%, get with it. The people that bring you this forum need help! How can you turn your back on a fellow shooter asking for help????????

Knowledge doesn't pay the bills. Would you wake up and go to work for some advice instead of a paycheck?
The Boss needs money....only money. He's not asking for a lot. He's asking for next to nothing and from what I can see he wouldn't ask if he didn't NEED it.

Exactly and then what’s the point of a forum if you’re not sharing knowledge? The same 1300 guys talking about what membership level they reached? I donate because I want too. Because I think the forum boss deserves it for his service. Not because I was peer pressured into it.

Then I guess the Boss will have less to do.....As I said before, knowledge doesn't pay the bills. It takes money to run this site. If you don't care about the site then don't donate, but if you don't care then why do you visit?

Sorry but I respectfully disagree..... Anyone has the right to stick up for the boss and try to help raise money. And anyone asking for money isn't always asking for the Boss, there are a lot of contributing members here that don't want to see the site come to an end, so maybe they are just asking for help themselves because 4% can't carry the whole load. The 4% are asking that others help with that.
