I would pay $50.00 a year just to read what Alex Wheeler @ WheelerAccuracy post, I don't shoot Long Range but I like His Testing & Info he shares ! This site has many many Knowledgeable members that share a ton of information on many many topics, If a guy is truthful he would admit no mater How long or how knowledgeable he is on the discipline of Shooting reloading Gunsmithing and all things Gun Related, You can still learn something from this side. Hey being able to Sale or buy is just another plus. Thanks for a Great Site and all the Hard work you do to make it possible RangerTim !
I do follow Alex and have bought some of his product, he's one of the good ones.

There are a lot of practicing smith's that participate on this site and write articles. Some of the best gunsmith's in the world in fact. Start a thread asking practicing gunsmiths to identify themselves. I think you'll be quite surprised how many of them you find here. So go ahead and 'fork over'. ;)

IMO, that's the kind of item that should have it's own separate thread, nothing but smith'n articles/how to's.

If those willing to take advantage of the $25.00 towards a Gold Membership can afford the additional $25.00 that has to come out of their pocket, obviously, they could afford the Silver Membership without financial help. There is no guarantee the money will be used for a Gold Membership.

Already got that bud ;) It's on the home page before you enter the forum. Called "Technical Articles - Tests and How To's"
Tons of very informative articles written by world class gunsmiths, expert firearms machinists, expert tooling machinists, and top level competition shooters.

Here's a link to the Technical Article section of the website. Our donations help costs associated with producing these informative articles for all to read.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious; but my contention is that it should be in the Forum.

Well you asked for technical 'how to' articles so there you go.....

If you ask for advice from a practicing or experienced gunsmith in the forum, that's what you'll get. You can read the articles then ask any questions you have in the "Gun Project Questions and Gunsmithing" section of the forum.

The problem with a forum on 'How To' technical articles is that every Joe Blow on the site jumps on and puts in their 2 cents. Sometimes even if they've only just started gunsmithing school. Or maybe theyve only tried to procedure one time. How much misinformation do you think you will get? Will it be safe information? Will it be the best method for producing the most accuracy from a rifle? Most of the site published 'How To' technical articles are verified safe practices performed by very experienced personnel and proven to be effective in competition level shooting. The information is already there. What difference does it make where you read it?

Regarding the technical articles.

There are over 500 articles on the main site -- over half relate to gun projects, reloading, product reviews. Our Cartridge Guides each represent over 100 man-hours or research, writing, and fact-checking.

There are over 8400 bulletin articles, probably 20% of which have reloading, gear review and technical content -- all access is free.

There are very good technical reasons why long articles with lots of pictures and embedded videos are NOT kept in the Forum.

Regarding donations -- They are very important -- indeed essential. Ad revenues alone won't cut it. If everyone had the attitude of DED45, this Forum would not exist.

We will consider the "Bronze" $10 membership, but honestly, Silver works out to just $1.67 per month. Historically, even before we had Silver and Gold, the average voluntary donation was $23. So we set Silver at $20. I'm not sure we'd get more "takers" at $10.

To add to that; there are also members on here that made substantial voluntary donations prior to the ribbon system going into effect that are no longer identified as site contributors. What you don't see may not tell the whole story.

Boss: The above is correct. However every identifiable member who donated at least $20 after June 1 2016 was "grandfathered" and given a 12 month upgrade starting May 31, 2017. In some cases, this extends Silver or Gold status to members nearly two years after their actual donation.

There’s no guarantee but I’d like to think the average guy frequenting the forum is above a 25.00 scam. I try and have some faith that the majority of people are good. Two of the guys got their gold membership instantly, the other two are waiting for the checks because they don’t use PayPal. The forum benefitted, it was a win win. I was willing to take the chance.

We thank those who have contributed to the site. Rest assured your support helps us keep the lights on...

Unfortunately, however, there seems to be too much hostility (and not-so-nice language) coming out in this thread... so, after deleting about 20 recent posts, I am locking the thread.

I can only say that regular users of the Forum should seriously consider upgrading to Silver or Gold. It really does help us keep doing what we are doing. At $20/year the Silver membership costs $1.67 per month. I honestly have to scoff at those who buy/sell repeatedly, call for more technical articles and independent product testing, demand Admin hand-holding (when they forget their password), but won't contribute $1.67 per month. Honestly that is less than the cost of a cup of coffee at Dunkin doughnuts.

We are serving a Forum audience of 38,000 and a general internet audience of 500,000+ per month. I typically work 70+ hours per week. Most people who have guessed at our actual annual site budget have missed by a factor of 4 or 5 times too high...

Yes donations count.

So thanks again for your support
-- we expect great things in 2018.
