I did not know there was a limit. I probably forgot when it was posted. I am ok with it.

I do not see a need to limit how much a person can buy. As a seller you can always say I will not sell to a person for what ever reason.

All the contributors pay to support this site to make all of this invaluable information available to the public. The classifieds are a bonus where people sometimes sell really nice items at great prices. Now with 38,000 members, many of which are non-contributors, I would have to stay active almost 24hrs a day to chime in and say "I'll take it" to lay claim on a good deal in the classifieds.

Every time I see a good deal on something I've been looking for, it's gone. Sometimes gone within the 1st minute of the add posting. Most of the time its basic non-contributing members claiming the sale. So even though I donate, I can't hardly get a word in edge-wise to buy anything if it's listed with a great price! Do you think that's fair? If so, do you support Socialism government as well? Seriously though, that's what's going on here. Too many people saying "why should I donate to support the upkeep of this site if everyone else is doing it for me and I can have all the benefits for free?" I'm glad that is coming to an end.

never really looked at it like that. .14 cents is cheap for the million dollars worth of laughs I get. Plus, I have learned a thing or two.
Ditto, hate to say it, but I like political threads too, you really get to understand people when chips are on the table.

I am a contributor (when you can contribute - some won't even take contributions) on every site that I am active on, regardless of the sale / buy policy. I feel I get an awful lot of excellent information from not only the people providing it, but also from the tireless efforts of the people that own, update and control the site. Keep up the good work.

Bob

I did just that on my last sale. It sold. I'll be doing that again, in the future. I don't sell much, tho.;)
Understand fully, I myself, by the time I want something gone, in good faith, I could not not sell because of a ribbon under one's name. A lot of guys here, non contributors so to speak, actually contribute a lot, and vise versa, a lot of contributors exhibit ownership and want extra rights for shelling out 50 bucks. I pay because it was implied help was needed, and will continue. I surely never will demand anything for doing so.

That would be kinda stupid to limit your buying consumer base to just contributing members, at least it would seem to be violating a principal of marketing.

Its not 'limiting to contributors', just more favorable pricing for them. I personally don't sell items to make money. I'm usually just getting rid of things that are collecting dust and taking up space. I could let them sit, or sell them to someone who wants to put them to use.

I'm not saying pricing this way would be a good idea for everyone, but it might help basic members think about contributing.

Do you know of "Sportman's Guide"? They offer a yearly membership for $40 to get into the "buyers club" pricing where you can save money on purchases. Some of the buyers club pricing is very competitive or even much better than other vendors. A few years ago, I was looking to buy a Minnkota Ulterra (auto-deploy/auto-stow GPS trolling motor) and some other items for my bigger fishing boat. The normal price on Sportmans Guide was the same as everywhere else, but if I purchased the buyers club membership, I would save over $270 on all my items vs. buying it anywhere else. This was a no brainer. After subtracting the cost of the membership (which paid for itself), I still saved $230 when the total purchase was all said and done.

On the same line, if contributors were to price their Selling ads the same way as Sportsman's Guide, I think it would work the same way. I would price items at fair market value for basic members, but give a good deal to contributors. If folks are buying enough on this site, eventually many of the basic members would see the value in a $20 contribution to get the savings.

I contribute 'cause, where else could I learn so much, and at times be a fly on the wall in the conversations
with great shooters! This site is the best. Paul

Do I think it is fair? Life is not fair. You have just as much option to get something from the adds as anyone else.

I would be OK it was a pay to play deal for the adds. I bet they bring more than a few here.
