Man cave inside of shed...

Hoping to build a 40x64 shed that will have a 14x28 man cave/reloading room on the one side. It will be fully finished, with heat and air. Questions are:

Best options for a safe and security?
The dos and don’ts with regards to finishing?
Only in the brainstorming phase so all options open.

Thanks!

Where is Capt. Dan? He just did one. A cousin here has done two like that. The first one was huge. 100 x100, I think. 30 feet to the peak of the steel building. He built a two story house in one corner with a deck off the second level so he could peruse his toys over morning coffee. He had 4 huge fans on one end and vents on the other to deal with the Texas heat. Me? I’d get a safe door and build a concrete gun room with one of the mini AC units on a wall inside and drain pipes for a dehumidifier. 14x14 seems good for that. Maybe 14x10, then 14x 18 for the reloading space. Powder room is nice. Always seem to need a sink to wash the gun oil and cleaners off the hands and save walking to the house to pee!

peeing is important, I really like the deck idea, some days looking is all you get

40 X 60 is not a shed, it is a warehouse, or maybe in some parts of the country a barn. What Josh said. If this is a long way down a dead end road maybe ease up on the security. But if every one in the county is going to know there are guns maybe not. It needs an I beam with a trolley and winch to pick up the mower to change blades, and it will be used for a million other things. Mine is much smaller and it has no bathroom facilities at all, I would do a complete bathroom with shower if I was building some thing as big as you describe. Many times I wish I could shower and change clothes before draggin my mess into the house after running the thickness planner or sand blasting. If it is going to have a high ceiling and you are going to store a lot of stuff, you will need pallet racks and something with forks to get pallets up and down.

I used to work with a guy that was smart enough to eventually become rich. I had a friend turn some custom balusters for him and when he came back from picking them up he told me, " the most important thing to have in a work shop is room." He is right.
