Making Benches

The top is finished in sand to make a rough surface. Much better than a slick surface.

I have used the "shark skin" dust available in the paint dept--mix with paint or varnish and it leaves a nice non skid without being too rough--that stuff is a miracle mixed with paint for slick concrete like a carport etc--you will never slip no matter how wet and it does not feel rough at all
Sturdy looking bench you got there--Hope you hammer some PD's!

I just sprinkle sand blasting sand in the wet paint.

Plastic pipe legs do not fit solid like screw in steel pipe. The legs individually have enough movement they are self leveling.I did not plan it that way, it just worked out that way.

Not what I wrote but appears a a quote

Im glad it works for you.

I have made a few heavy double layer benches like Urbans--Very sturdy but Very heavy to drag in and out of the truck so I have explored lighter versions
My latest which is working out Great is much lighter and surprising light weight compared to the double top--and cheap!
I have been getting the WEN mitre saw stand on Amazon- ( $59)-it is well made--though a little short so I have been using the outrigger bars that come with it--they are the perfect length to cut 2 16" pieces from each one to use as spacers between the mount and the top board which winds up a near perfect 33 1/2 inch tall
I am getting two tops out of one 4x8 sheet of 3/4 in I have found these to be plenty steady even though only one layer and with some new carriage bolts , stand, and plywood comes out to just under $100
I added a support in the middle to the last one -- the legs fold up neat and tight--I added a handle to the bottom of the last one and so far I have been Very happy with it
If you don't add the middle support bolt the top comes off with the orange handles as it is attached to the saw mount cross bars

Speaking of shootin' tables, I am heading out for an eternal RV trip and solved the problem of loading on the road! I was able to consolidate all my loading gear for 3 cartridges into 14 small action packers and 2 range bags! Ps: I like a smooth top.
