Making a rifle "pretty"

I got a pierce single shot action real cheap, and was going to build a pretty rifle, so I was hoping for a bit of experience in if anyone has done a similar project?
I was thinking of gold Ti-nitriding the bolt, strippng the action and giving it a polish and then some engraving (that's the easy bit for me), and then colour case harden the action...
I have a brux barrel, jewel trigger, and a nice piece of walnut ready to go...

I know it won't shoot any better, but maybe I will!

"You aint cool if your chrome done shine". That was my majors slogan when he did an equipment inspection.

Yep make her puuurdy. LDS

I started to do a "purty" rifle once. I had a SS barrel spun on a CM action. Then I bedded it and did 10 coats of Linspeed oil. The most purty rifle I ever owned. It had a soul. Stupidly I sold it. I can still remember the smell of the stock!!

Ive only seen SS or titanium. Check it with some cold blue

This is my Pierce rifle.
The front sight was my biggest chore.

Mine is an early Pierce CM receiver. At that time he only had SS bolt handles except on his FClass type receivers. His primary extraction was a little different design and I couldn't use a Remington style handle. I got one of Johns bolt handles and sent the receiver, bolt and 2 bolt handles to Dan (accu-tig.com) and he made one handle and tigged it to the bolt. It is in 6.5X47L. I think I've had it for about 15yrs. I need to get to the range with it.

OP...would you prefer a repeater?

I have a Pierce CM repeater I might trade.

Lovely and inspiring!

I have a few Brux barrels as options, but I will be chambering the rifle in 6BR.
Being a full time traditional hand engraver, I will enjoy doing "something" with it...
How much would something like butch’s action there cost to engrave and how long to do it?

I have a Savage 16 Weather Warrior LH and started the process by ordering a new varmint/tactical stock from Stockade Gun Stocks, then put a long, fat Rock Creek barrel on it. All the stainless was buffed to a high polish. I had the stock detailed and painted in PPG Midnight Sapphire with a little flake in it. Brightwork and that sapphire blue paint look really nice. It's not a benchrest gun with that varmint stock, but if I ever get tired of handling it with kid gloves, I can always take the pretty paint off. I've got other guns that have plastic stocks, AR15s, had an M1A in a chassis, but I didn't have a jewel. It was something I felt like doing at the time. My next build will not be like that one.

Whatever you do, don't take it to the range..... you may damage it. Instead, you should sell that beautiful piece of iron to me. :D. As I have said before, you have an admirable taste for the good stuff. Very nice rifle.... and if it ever needs a home, let me know.
