Magneto speed

A j shooter

Shoot often
I shoot over a magneto speed and an oehler 35 today and there was very little difference in speed.
Magneto speed was so easy to set up . That oehler is nice but it is a little aggravating to set up.
That magneto is really nice I'm hooked

I did the same. Comparisons shot with MS on the barrel through the Oehler. Four sessions, three different calibers. Conclusion? Sold the Oehler.

Another satisfied Magnetospeed user. Easier, quicker & gives true MV. I've "sold" five of them. :D

AJshooter, Welcome to the club 8)........... Always fun to yell "fix bayonets" before calling line "hot". The strange looks are priceless.

now if someone would do a load workup with it on, then do it with OUT it installed and report the findings. ;D

Not sure that you need to.

Shoot with it on to find lowest ES/SD configuration. Take it off and user a barrel tuner to dial in the group.

I have read that they don't effect accuracy. How can you hang some thing off the end of your barrel and have it not effect accuracy? I love the idea, a lot less hassle. What are your experiences?

I find the only thing that changes for me so far is a slight point of impact on one rifle. That would be Ruger#1B in 6mm Rem, less than an inch low/right at 200. The other rifles I used it on are all Varmint weight and don't think anything changed on them...my experience only

I've hung it on everything, muzzleloaders bps & smokeless, ARs, a featherweight 17 fireball, handguns, heavy barrels, sporter barrels. POI moves up inch to an inch and a half, accuracy is not affected. It's weight is a few ounces.

The theory of hanging something on the end of the barrel and it affecting accuracy is proven and not worth debating. However there is very little to no evidence out there, that I am aware of anyways, where the magneto affects accuracy to a detriment.

I have used mine on 500, 600 and 900 yards and all shots held the 10 ring. I had to come down 1 moa in elevation for those 3 ranges.

Any disadvantages real or otherwise are outweighed by the advantages for me.

YMMV

I do my load workup with it on. THEN I do all the rest of my shooting with it on.

I recently made a shim from the bottom of a Pringles can, it's .007" thick. It is sandwiched on the barrel between the muzzle and brake. So now my MagnetoSpeed bayo rests against the shim and it is always attached at exactly the same position on the barrel.

As you went from 500 to 600 and then 900 how much did your POI change. I know you said it remained inside the 10 ring but I would think the deviation would increase with distance much like it would with the wind.

The deflection is 1 moa (for me). So each distance I come down 1 moa from my normal drop chart.

6BRinNZ, from your name it sounds like you shoot a 6BR. Have you tried your MagnetoSpeed on different calibers and if so does changing calibers have a different effect on your POI? I have noticed the POI shift on my .308 and 6BR are different with the MagnetoSpeed installed.
