Lost tools

Years ago I went to load some 22-250 and couldn't find my dues, Finally
gave up and bought another set. Year or so later same thing for a 243.
New dies. Sometime later same with 308. Couple of years later moving
some stuff on shelves and wondered what was in that green mtn range box.
was awful heavy......yep....6 or so sets of loading dies from when I moved
several years before. Duplicates are good.

When I've finally found my lost items, they were always in the last place I laid em down just for a second.
there was a time I had to remove a vent in my truck and out rolls a loaded round I lost when I put it on the dash 2 yrs earlier.
Just small enough it rolled into the defrost vent at window.

Looked for a spanner wrench for days because I needed to change out the sanding disc to a cutoff disc. I ALWAYS put it back in the box with the grinder......Well I guess it walked away.....Went and bought a new one $17.95.... It's double zip tied to the cord now.

Have you ever put something in a place where you won't forget where it is, then become unable to remember where you put it to prevent it from being lost? Still looking for my glasses.

Doing HVAC services and would leave something behind. Still there the next time I went out on a call there. Also found a few tools while under houses or in the attic, would bring it out with me and ask the homeowner if it was theirs. Often times they told me to keep it, Klein lineman and tape measures, hammers, screwdrivers, glow rod, etc...

I'm looking for several .38 revolvers that are floating around the house somewhere? Haven't seen them in years.
I bought a nice old Husquevarna 243 last year. Worked up a good load for it and put it away. I’m going on a hog hunt next week and thought I’d use it. I’ve looked thru every safe twice and haven’t found it. Maybe three times will be the charm?

Josh - check your gun cases. I have accidentally left a rifle or two in the case and tucked it away in the corner of a room or closet.

If that doesn’t work then I turn to my wife and start asking questions.. making accusations

Hope you find it, But if you don't, That Siamese Mauser you have in 45-70 would be just the ticket, Knocks things down on both ends!

In 1969 I bought a Case Moose knife in the PX at Camp Pendleton. My daily carry pocket knife until about 1980. Put in my tool box. A couple of years later I moved. The tool box made it but the knife didn't. Haven't seen it in over 40 years.

Ever lose a piece of equipment that you know is in the house somewhere?

First it was a modified Hornady case in 6DASHER.

I have a new bolt coming today. So this morning I look for my go-gauge. I want to be sure my headspace doesn't change with the new bolt.

Well the damn go gauge is missing worse than a 10mm socket. I have separate Tupperware containers for each caliper. They hold things like comparator bushings, neck bushings, etc that are caliber specific. But my go gauge for 6 Dasher isn't in the 6mm container.

Last I used it was installing my current barrel. So it has to be in the gun room somewhere.
Do you have a piece of brass fired with the old bolt? If so, make sure the new bolt will close with it in the chamber, then, put a piece of scotch tape on the head of the case (cut around the rim so the tape is only on the head) and see if it will close. If it still closes with the tape, then your headspace has increased. This method will give you a good idea as to any change in head space.

I don't think so. Used brass isn't always the same from one to another.
