Looking for Suggestions for Blast Shoot Match Rifle

Greetings all … planning on attending The Blast Shoot in Kansas next year, and looking for advice on the best choice for a factory rifle. Prefer 6mm or 6.5, but open to suggestions.

Here is a thread talking about the Blast Shoot earlier this year.

THE BLAST Match 2025 Report

2025 Blast Shoot: May 2nd, 3rd and 4th Place - Flint Oak, Fall River, KS. Hosted by Jim and Sally Bauer and Vapor Trail Bullets
Centerfire targets at: 107 yards, 246 yards, 365 yards and 492 yards
.22 LR, Factory, Tactical, AR, and unlimited class shooting clay targets at 4 distances - kind of like the old Varmint Hunters Jamboree but with clay targets instead of balloons.
There is a 5 gun Championship and a team competition.
$12,000.00 of prize money and great door prizes

Here are the rules from 2025: https://forum.accurateshooter.com/attachments/blast-2025-rules-pdf.1621022/

My suggestion is a Savage in Factory class or build a Benchrest Light Gun in 6BRA for Unlimited, but have an attachment to add weight on the underside of the forearm.

Thanks, it was the Savage that dominated the factory class at The Varmint Hunters shoot. Wasn’t sure if there was something new out there that I didn’t consider.

There were several factory tactical style rifles that were shot in both factory and tac class. I think the guy I spotted for was shooting a Bagara.

Its a great match. Great bunch of people. Wonderful location. They give the profits to charity. In 2025 they gave away $12000.00 to 2 different organizations.

Need to get back to work on an AR class rifle.

There were a number of Bergara Premier Competition models on the line. This rifle met the factory requirements and I believe a number of the shooters also used this rifle in the tactical division as well. MSRP is $2699, available in 6GT, 6 or 6.5 Creedmoor.

I used a borrowed Daniel Defense Delta 5 Pro last year. It barely made weight. I am switching over to a Savage for 2026.

The factory rules for this match are as stringent as any I have seen for factory division. Make sure you read them completely before purchasing a rifle. No modification to bolt or action is allowed. If the rifle is in a chassis, that chassis has to be specifically made for that rifle. There are manufacturers who purchase of the rack chassis from various manufacturers and drop their barreled action in. That does not meet the guidelines for the factory division at the Blast. 16lb limit, etc.

Ruger Precision rifles, Bergara Premier Competition, Savage and some of the old Remington 700's have won in the past. Many "Semi Custom" rifle builders now produce 5000 plus firearms annually, so you'll have to do your homework to make sure they comply. The 2026 factory rules will be published soon, but a few of the changes from last year include: bipods and or rest systems will not be included in the 16lb weight limit.
All factory rifles must use the factory supplied barrel and chamber, with a SAAMI listed and certified cartridge. I hope this helps, full list of rules will be coming soon.
