I was totally thinking of BAT's, I didn't consider the 30° cone of Kelbly. This is what I made for measuring cones, I always double check for clearance afterwards. Thats why I asked about the ball, I think it might be a little more precise

Mine is like yours. I cobbed it together from some scrap but it works fine.

I always set my complete tenon up before i cut a chamber. I crushed a bunch of solder on every size boltface on mainstream actions to get my setup over the years. I still crush a lot of solder veryfying

No i stick it on the front of the lug with grease

The 1 inch ball will work with any angle if you use it BEFORE cutting the chamber.

.010 thick pipe wrap on the front of the lug for me. Its like a no go gauge.

I thought the point was to match an existing barrel that has a chamber?

I use this gage to record a measurement when I first do a barrel for an action. After that I no longer need the action to do another barrel for it. The size of the chamber will influence if a ball will seat on the chamber edge or the cone.
