Looking for Constructive Criticism

Those who perform at a high level are almost always the product of a high performance system. You will not see an ARA rookie from a backwater club win the Nationals in St Louis but you will see that the top finishers there have all been competing against the best of the best.

A local guy that just shot locally won the factory nationals a few years back.....I imagine it would be tough in unlimited to do that as well.

When I first started looking into rifles last year many were pushing the CZ Brand so I bought one. Soon I traded up from a varmint to an MTR. Once I did an NRL, PRS and ARA event I decided to focus on BR events. Now I seem to be the lone CZ against the Bergara B14 R contenders who seem to dominate. I did buy Midas + matched in Mesa.

Earnhardt- How is this best done?
Shooting matches at different ranges and often would be my best advice. Of course this is the use of flags every time you are shooting. Practice, lot testing, matches, ect. If your shooting, use your flags. Our home range, I would rank at a medium level of difficulty. The unknown of other ranges helps with a persons ability to adapt quickly.

Commitment before equipment.

This is a common theme, and I will say that it is not entirely incorrect, to a point.

That being said, nobody is winning major championships with a Winchester 52 pre-A, even though they did at one time.

World class shooters from the 1930's would win now, with the same gear as today's shooters, partially BECAUSE of their commitment to the skill.

However, that caveat is huge: The equipment can and WILL hold a shooter back.

So, at the upper levels, we have to do ALL the things correctly. As @VLNBYR said, it's an entire performance system.

"Buy all the points you can, and practice for the rest."

-Perseverance -amen. I suck then I'm hot. Suck/Hot/suck.
-Flags. I suppose my roll of neon surveillance tape won't qualify.

Any good articles on trigger position, etc?

I was debating on going to St. Louis for the Nationals but
may be better off spending my limited $ on gear.

Thanks to everyone who shared a thought!

Go to St Louis. One way to get rich is to hang out with rich people.
If nothing else, go to St. Louis for one day so that you can see what equipment everyone is using and also talk to some of the best Factory shooters around. Most all will freely discuss what they have, why, and how they approach bench setup and shooting a card.
