On one of the farms that I hunt groundhogs on the farmer had a groundhog that made his hole by a fence post in his pasture and loosened the post. He wanted me to shoot it but to have a safe shot I had to go to the entrance of his lane to get a safe shot and that's what I did. His cows were in the shade near his barn when the saw me they all came up and were staring at me and wouldn't leave, the fence was between us so I chased them off and they went back to the shaded spot by the barn. Awhile later the groundhog came out and I shot him, he was laying a few yards from the hole and the cows came over single file and every one smelled the dead groundhog they knew exactly where it was at. I told the farmer this story he said that they don't like anything else in there pasture even deer.
