Load development at less than 100 yds

We shoot Sporter rifle, 22 rf at 50 feet and the wind doesn't seem to effect the score. We don't shoot for group just score. [freehand]
My question is does anyone shoot at a short distance for load development where they figure wind isn't so much a factor ?
I have never seen anything on this before, maybe there's a reason.
