Little different take on a single shot follower

I had this rifle to build and the customer supplied a repeater Bat action that he wanted a single shot follower installed in to. I thought I would give this method a try because it left the action un modified. I held the follower into the action with small spacers and filled in the gaps with clay I left the follower rough and degreased and only applied release agent to the action. So now the follower is glued into the bedding and it does not touch the action.

That’s a really good simple solution that leaves the action unmodified. Should work perfectly and it’s reversible. Great idea !

I have a br style stock i put my tactical barreled action in for load development that has the follower in there like that. Works very well

I like it. Very nice work. I have a few I should mill out a little bedding and glue a follower in like that.

I've always built my own followers for 700's with a snug fit and radius'd bottom and corners to match the receiver and glued 'em in with JB.

They've never come loose and I've always been able to remove them by tapping 'em out with dowel and hammer if needed. There's only been a slight residue of JB left in the mag recess area that easily scapes out.

You bed it with clearance. It looks like it would touch but there would be a gap there if you could see inside with the action in it

Thanks for confirm. In another thread consensus was bed rear and sides but never bottom and most people said not front either. Hard to tell 30 thou clearance in a picture
