Leupold vx6 7-42x56 ??

When this scope came out I had real high hopes that this would be my next scope. The price seemed right, the power range would work and I really liked the looks of the reticle. I told myself to wait till Jan. 2015 to get one in case there were issues. Well it seems that the issues are popping up pretty quick. I am sure Leupold has very high hopes as well for this new scope. Has anyone in or closely around the industry heard anything about some kind of major "fix", recall - admitted design screw-up - something....ANYTHING happening to get this new product "right". I am still holding out hope that Leupold will make it right by next year. Or do you think they will massage it like NF did to the comp. and bring it out new in 2015 ?

As I've posted at various times on this site: I do not believe (anymore) in buying a new product when it first becomes available. I have, in the past, and have been burned. Let someone else be the testing facility to discover any design defects.

Whether these defects are because of the rush to get the new product on the market, or just plain old design flaws ( to reduce production costs?), I don't want to be any part of it.

Beta tester here my scope got to leupold today for the same problem again. It will seat in receiving for a week, then on a tech bench for a week, then it will take the tech up to 3 weeks to may be fix it. Then it goes to the Supervisor of the Technical Service Department, so that he can personally inspect it before it is returned and that should take a week.

And let's not forget the very high cost of return shipping these high dollar scopes when they have to go back. Full value insurance costs are not cheap !

What problem are these new scopes having?

As you turn the side focus you can feel something moving inside then it falls and goes clunk. First time it did it in three place begin middle and end moving the focus knob forward or backwards. now it just does it at the beginning moving forward.

That is amazing......Wouldn't you think that they would put the turrets through the ringer at least on THIS ONE scope before sending it out. Don't they ( Leupold ) have people at least glancing at some of the bigger forums to see what is being discussed about their products? I see this little piece of cust. service as an epic FAIL. I appreciate the input from all to my topic. I think being that confidence in your equipment ( at least for me ) is HUGE when it comes to the enjoyment of this sport that I am going to go with the 2014 NF Comp. and just not give it another thought....

Rick, I think that is a smart move. I would buy the 2014 NF Comp or find me a good used 12-42 NXS. There is one in the classifieds right now , NPR-1 this would serve you well. It has a good price. You can always sell a NF later and recoupe most of your dollars, if the Leupold's get it together.... That is just my thought.

The Leupold is on it way back for a refund and I have ordered NF Comp FCR-1 should be here next week
