Leupold Customer Service

A quick look in my gun safes and you’ll see a bunch of Leupolds, some going back to when I was getting started in the late seventies. Out of the dozens of Leupolds I’ve owned only three have ever needed to be sent back to Leupold for an issue. Recently I sent back a VariX III 1.5-5 that wouldn’t track. Last week they sent me back the attached email. The scope I sent them prior to this one for a check up was a M8 4X, they did the same thing with that scope, replaced it with a brand new scope that was a similar model. Both of those scopes were decades old. I think they employ 600+ people, they are a USA company, they have always been good to me and they will continue to get some of my $$$. Refreshing customer service once again.

The only issue I have with Leopold is that they never tell u what was actually wrong with the scope. In the two I have sent in for repair, they tell u the parts replaced but do not describe the defects they found.
I suspect there is a certain amount of “ Shot gunning” of parts rather than actual troubleshooting.

They also discontinued the scopes I would like, ie: almost all competition scopes.
I would have bought a 6x with dot just for a spare in case mine decides to poop.

Leupold has always had good customer service. I had a Redfield Revenge that I sent back last year. They said they no longer made those and would I be interested in a Leupold MK AR Mod-1 6-18x40. Seriously!? After about a nanosecond of thought I said of course....hard to beat that trade guys!

I’ve always had very good luck with them as well. I’ve sent in a few scopes to have reticles changed and different turrets put on and it’s been quick turn around.

I was disappointed this year they discontinued the LRP series of scopes and didn’t release a replacement as of yet. Hopefully this coming year we’ll see an option in the LRP price/feature range that replaced the previous model.

I love em too. Have a bunch a loopies here.. My wish is that their online sales list had more stuff in stock. As a veteran they give me a huge discount if I order from them direct. If you are a veteran take advantage of this discount. Details are on their website.

I love Leupold too but they really need to step up the game. I am a registered dealer and have been waiting since January on three scopes to show up. Seems like they need to expand production to keep up with demand. Even pre pandemic and panic buying it was sometimes 2-3 months wait for a particular model. I can't even buy the scopes I need from a distributer at the moment.

Called Leupold recently and was interested in having them do a reticle change on my 45x Comp Series scope. I was told Leupold no longer does reticle changes as of around 6 months ago. Kinda sucks. I opted to go to Cheryl Ackerman and she said she would be more than happy to do the work.

These guys?.

I absolutely love my Leupold scopes! I have a bunch of them and I'm still waiting to have my first failure...hopefully it never comes! However, recently, I don't like some of the choices they are making as a company. For example:
I like gloss scopes on gloss blued guns, and they quit making them.
I like silver scopes on stainless guns, and they quit making them.
I would really like to add an elevation turret to a few scopes and the custom shop seems like it will never open.
Since I can't get the custom shop to add a turret, I wanted to buy a few screw on dials, and they quit making them.

I understand that the market drives decisions but eliminating some of those choices completely doesn't seem like the best decision either. I don't know why gloss or silver couldn't be added as a custom order. If or when the custom shop does open, I'm sure their backlog will take forever to get under control so I'm not holding my breath on that either.

In the past, I have had turrets added to scopes and their service was great. Wait time was minimal too. I hope they can get back to that!!

Aussie shooter here. I've used Leupold riflescopes for over 25 years but lately I'm starting to spend with other companies as Leupold just doesn't provide exactly what I'm looking for. I have a few Nightforce scopes now and feel I get more value for my money.

I recently did however buy a Leupold VX-3HD 3.5-10x40 CDS_ZL for use on a .308 hunting rifle. One of the reasons I chose a Leupold was the "free" custom CDS dial that is advertised as coming with each scope. Unfortunately the Leupold website won't let me claim the dial. It verified my scope's serial number, accepted all my personal info and the ballistic data and then won't allow me to submit an order. I'm feeling a little apprehensive that I may not be getting what was advertised. I've emailed Leupold so all I can do now is wait and see what happens. I've spoken to a few other local shooters and none of them have been able to claim their custom dials either. Puts people off the brand which is a pity as they do make a pretty good product.

A week ago, I sent a VX3i-LRP 4.5-14-50 back to Leupold because I couldn't get it to put me on target.
I got a message one week later that is was being sent back to me. I called them and they explained what was wrong and what they did to repair it. Exceptional customer service. Leupold for life.
