Shout out to Leupold Service

I recently bought a Leupold VX-3 used . It was in like new condition , but the Power Ring turned really HARD . Not the Sellers fault as he is a good guy and made it right . So I sent it off to Leupold about 3 or 4 weeks ago . Just got it today , and it is slick ( no charge ) . I own a lot of different Brands , but mostly Leupolds . The 2 or 3 I sent back years ago were also purchased used , and were also promptly repaired free of charge . Just wanted to report my recent experience with Leupold Customer Service .

Right on. So far:
(1) a M8 12x40 AO, sent back for target adjust Leupold replaced objective lens cell free with that of a 12X40 FXIII and installed M1 target clickers (adjustments),
(2) a 4.5-14 VXIII, sent back for 2 target clickers, Leupold only installed elevation when both were requested but upon being notified Leupold sent prepaid return shipping label by email attachment and had scope with both M1 clickers back in 1 week.
(3) a 6.5-20X40 VX3, sent back for M1 clickers, installed and returned in 3 weeks.
(4) a 30 year old (scope 1) M8 12x40 adjustments failed Leupold repaired no charge and returned within 3 weeks.
(5) a new 6-18X40 VX2, target type, had 3 out of 6 clicker M1 knob adjust set screws frozen in place causing the tiny .050 Allen head screws to socket strip out when I attempted to back them out. Leupold responded to my email by promptly sending me 6 set screws free.
(6) providing new screws for Ruger type 1 inch and 30 mm rings free.
(7) patiently responding to my periodic questions of how things work.

For my low-mid budget scope world, I think Leupold scopes might cost like 120 % of a comparable brand X scope but provide better bad light performance and better service with the exception of Vortex service. My Zeiss scopes give as good optical performance but service is sort of iffy; Zeiss would not replace their 1000Z reticle (whatever, set up to guestimate up to1100 -1200 yard .308 W ballistics) in some Conquest HD 4-24X50 scope so I sold it. Burris is OK but service is slower.

I'll also say Leupold took my old VXIII 8.5-25 with the medium crosshair and put a 1/8 Dot in it for $70.00. Took them only a couple of weeks. They checked everything on the scope and said it's all good to go. Pretty dang good service and price.

They would not even reply or answer an e-mail from me . . .. . Just curious, when you "sent your scope . . ." You certainly didn't just box it up and drop it off at the post office. What, how, was the dialogue that preceded that ?

Flouncer , in my case , I called Leupold : (503) 526-1400 or 1 (800) 538-7653 ( can't remember which I used ) . If you call , remember it's Oregon Time . I always prefer talking to a person rather than Emailing . I can't remember who I talked to there , but he was very courteous . I told him the problem and was told " no problem , send it in and we will fix it ". I was given the Address to send it to and to include a note with my Name , Address , Phone No. , and Email Address , and to define the problem with the Scope . I also included the Serial Number. I paid Shipping to them . They paid Shipping back to me . I did not receive any Info. back from Leupold after they received it or how long it would take ( which is OK with me ) .....just got it back fixed in a few weeks . Leupold did include a sheet explaining what was done to the Scope . Bing , Bang , Boom !

Ditto.

I did actually just box mine up and send it to the address that’s on the paperwork that comes with the scopes. I enclosed a letter stating that the scope would not track or hold zero. I callled them a week after I sent it and they confirmed that they had received it and it would be checked out. Sent it November 7 and just got it back December 11.
It came back with service ticket showing work that was done. Easy Peasy!
