Let's snivel about the heat.

My son and I left for South Dakota, Today at 11am his a/c went out in Illinois with 93^ temp, its 8pm mountain time and we're still on the road but it's only 86* here in South Dakota! Only an hour and 10 minutes and we'll call it a day.

Ya' know, with all the science over the ages, Ya' never hear about
them passenger and military aircraft just spraying CO2 every where. LOL
We all gotta die of something.....!!

As for coal ?? Growing up, everyone in my area had a coal furnace
and a clinker pile in the back yard. The smell of burning coal was
everywhere. Not far from me was a Pennsy line running them PRR-
J-1 pitch black smokers. You hung your laundry outdoors dependent
on the train schedules......LOL

Pretty observant. “A few centuries…” didn’t account for CFCs, planes, vehicles, and hot air from politicians. That’s it we’re done, turn out the lights, the party’s over.

On side note, I’ve seen a few articles where people have been burned on metal, asphalt, and even seat belt buckles in hot cars. Be careful out there.

I remember the hay wagons well. Didn't have anything to pick up the bale off the ground, except our arms. Got to where I could toss a 70 lb bale over my pickup if needed. Stack on the wagon then off to the barn to unload.
Kids complained one day, working in the garden, that it seemed that I never really did any "hard work" like their schoolmates parents. Told them I paid my dues already and I put in the "hard work" when I was younger and they were lucky they wouldn't have to do what I did but they were still going to learn to work.

We rarely had to pick them up off the ground, but did sometimes. We had no kicker but we would couple the wagons close behind the baler and you'd snatch them with your baling hook and drag them onto the wagon.

I got (re)married at age 45. One of the things about that is, my wife never saw the me that started working at 13, worked two jobs most of my life and basically busted his a**. She's only seen the guy who has it relatively easy now

Just out of curiosity, do you know where that photo was taken?
the article showed up on the news feed on my iPad

Not sure how Phoenix is doing but here in Yuma, We are showing signs of possible Monsoon weather!
Monsoon moisture now in S. Nevada, but up north we had 5% relative humidity a while ago, as dry as it ever gets here (95f temperature.) Last night it got down to 53 deg. at my home, so w/ doors and windows open all night the inside of the house was 65 this morning. That meant the A/C didn't kick on until around noon. Typical July weather.

Eh, its been tepid here. Bouncing between 95° and 110° outside, which equals about 100° to 115° inside at work. Keep the air moving, hydrate, not too bad. Helluva lot better than that nasty white stuff covering the ground in winter. So glad we don't get that here. I hate the stuff.

But, I've still been cooking and working on recipes. Ain't no rest for the wicked!

It's because of all those fish farts releasing methane into the ocean. Eat more fish and do your part in saving the oceans AND us from climate change.
Since they're talking about spraying reflective stuff in the upper atmosphere to reflect the sunshine away I propose an undertaking of similar magnitude; giant paddles to stir the colder water from down deep up to the surface and the warmer water down into the depths. I'll need about 11 million to study the feasibility.

One thing that torques me is the two ranges I have access to, no shooting til 9;00AM, only get maybe an hour to1-1/2hrs before the sun hits hard and mirage goes nuts, then start sweating walking out to targets. I still stay out til noon, but, I do ask myself why I do it at times, mostly just to practice in the conditions is what I keep telling myself. I can never accuse it of being dull.
