My old faithful Tikka M65 .308 Sporter. With Osuma picatinny rail and Meopta Meostar R1 4-16*44 Mildot. Gun rucksack is Savotta Torrakko in finnish defence forces M05 camo.
Weather was just great, -6 degrees celsius, little bit snow and no wind at all. 2 black grouses shot today :)
Great rifle. I have a nice little collection of old Deluxe Tikkas, have yet to see a sporter for sale here in Canada. One day hopefully!

lets hope that you find one. This shoots just like a dream. Only problem with M65 is that magazines are not made anymore. Luckily I have found three.
Here is 5 shots, 100m. 168gr A-max.

Very nice. Yes, I agree about the magazines. I have managed to acquire 2 or 3 for each rifle fortunately. I paid $300 for a magazine once, 300WM, for a friend who had me looking for him. Ouch.

M55 magazines you can find easily, price is usually 80-90€/pcs and there is NOS available still. M65 mag can be something like 170€/pcs, even for used one. 300$ sounds terrible

So here’s a recent project on a cheap rifle. I picked up a Norinco JW-15 in an auction this summer as for some reason I wanted one based on generally good reports on them based on what they cost. A Chinese copy of a Brno or CZ 452. Well this one generally was crap, it was very clean and in good shape so I bedded it, opened the barrel channel (stock wood is similar to balsa!), and still it shot 2+” at 60 yards. I decided to tear it apart as I had a few rimfire blanks in the shop. Had to cut the old one off and bore out the shank to get it out after removing the pin (they aren’t threaded). I had a new takeoff CZ 452 sporter barrel in a bin and low and behold I was able to just support the chamber with the live center and turn the threads off with a little to spare and it fit right up to the action! There was a little filing here and there on the feed plate/ejector and I didn’t bother with a dovetail in the barrel for the front action/bottom metal screw as it’s sitting well enough in the stock with the bedding and one action screw in the middle.
Just finished it yesterday and modified a DIP Picatinny rail and epoxied/screwed it to the receiver. Mounted another Chinese 4X rimfire scope to it and shot a few groups this morning. Pictured is the last 5 shots after zeroing at 60 yards. I think I like it now! It will be a good bang around rifle for squirrels and such.
Custom all the way here!!

Essentially a "piece of junk".

Friend blew his factory Savage 270 barrel apart when he put a 308 shell in and shot. It sat in his garage and then he died of cancer. His sister gave it to me along with an unknown used barrel he had gotten to maybe fix it up. I added a new bolt head, had that barrel chambered to 260 Ackley Improved, bedded it in Acraglass, finished the stock, added a used Vortex FFL scope and Sierra "Game Changer" 130's to start hitting the 8" plate repeatedly at 600 yards. Full drop testing with that reticle chart taped to the stock, finished off the "restoration".

Last season I took two does and a 9 pt with it. Then backed that up with this 9 pt last month. The bucks were killed over 230 yards and the does a bit closer. All were one shot kills.

Put it together more as a "joke". The joke was on the deer.

How to do you find those Game Changers? Once I have shot off the factory ammo I have for the 7x64 I'm going to start looking for a hunting bullet.

Scrummy
