Lets see those hunting rifles

How to do you find those Game Changers? Once I have shot off the factory ammo I have for the 7x64 I'm going to start looking for a hunting bullet.

Scrummy
They have all expanded well and all have coast through, leaving a big exit hole. If you look in the picture above, that is an exit hole you see. The entrance is farther forward with bullet track angling back to exit.

I have never recovered one of there bullets but the results tell me the core stays in the jacket and things sure expand. One morning a couple years ago I shot a doe in a cold, foggy morning. I could clearly see the bullet come out the other side of that doe and go maybe another 100 yards down the power line where I shot her.

Think I have five deer kills with them the last 2-3 years. Georgia allows 10 does and two bucks each season. Normally I take the two bucks and maybe 3-4 does each season using different rifles.

This thread could use a bump...This is the rig I'll be campaigning against the local whitetail herd next month. For 2021 we're finally allowed to use bottleneck cartridges in IA for but they have to be .350 or larger. I dug out a Savage model 16 that I've had since 05-06 (it started out as a 7-08 but it's had 4-5 different barrels over the years).

A month or two ago, I picked up a Shaw .358 Win 24" magnum contour barrel from midevilway. Actually ended up cutting it down to 21.5" for a little better balance. The stock's barrel channel was opened up for a magnum contour .338 Fed barrel years ago & bedded with Devcon aluminum putty shortly after purchased. SSS bolt handle & a VX3 1.5-5x borrowed from my .375 H&H. It weighs in just under 9 lbs.

.358 w-VX3.jpgIt shoots 200gr Hor SPs under an inch with H4895, I'll be testing some RE15 loads this weekend.

I bought this one new in the box almost 30 years ago. It's taken everything from pronghorns to feral hogs with stacks of yotes and prairie dogs. It will still put them in one tight group. Remington 700 Varmint Special in 6mm REM with Leupold QR bases and VX-III 6.5-20x40.

This one I built myself. Spikes lower with CMC trigger, ARP .243 LBC barrel, Duramag magazine, S.S.A.L.T mount, 6.5-20x50 Simmons Whitetail Classic . I bagged this Axis deer with it a few weeks ago.

I like the action, flats forward of the tang and round at the barrel threads ..

yah so far I’ve been super pleased with it. Priced well, prefit compatible, super super smooth, and lightest 3 lug bolt lift I’ve felt so far. Company is great to deal with as well, I have 2-3 barrels of there’s as well and they are all hammers!! Fast, easy to clean, break in real nice. I haven’t a second 20 tac barrel spun up for it from ks arms barrels that seems to be a hammer too. Both barrels are super fast!

I recently received two 300 Norma mags from Alex Wheeler. One for me and one for my cousin, I’m doing the load development for both of them. Just got the barrels broke in and will start tuning a load next week. I can’t say enough good things about Wheeler Accuracy, the workmanship on these is top shelf in every regard. If you ever handle one of his rifles with his timed action it’ll put a smile on your face. The accuracy between cleaning sessions has been stellar. Not the best pics but I wanted to share them. Starting off with N570, CCI 250s, Lapua brass, and Berger 230 hybrids.

Rifle specs are are Bat actions, McMillan stocks, brux #5 9 twist with .260FB, triggertech triggers, terminator T2 brakes. These rifles recoils very little for what they are my wife, pretty amazing. NF NX8 scopes, I might swap those out for ATACRs though, nice scope but touchy parallax.
