Lee Universal Decapping Die

Well, after running thousands of cases through the Lee Universal Decapping Die over the years included crimped military brass, I finally managed to ruin my first pin by running it into a berdan primed case.

I turned mine to go in to a 20 caliber neck. It is very handy for my interests. Like a couple guys here I picked up two extra 10 years ago. They still look good in the package.

I busted my rcbs decapped on a berdan case as well. But I needed the whole rod.
Rcbs was great had a replacement shipped to me and extra pins.
I stuck it in my drill press and using a file got it to fit in my 204r brass

I bought a Mighty Armory decap die and its the toughest thing Ive ever used. It has repeatedly hit berdan cases and even punched out small Lapua flash holes with never an issue although you can get the smaller pin.

I have 2 Lee decapping dies. 1 is turned down to be used on Lapua small flash holes. I also keep extra pins for both. My big flash hole decapping die pin I had to replace after years of service. It's demise was due to a staked .223 primer, after of course many.

I had wondered about turning the pin. I think I'll give it a whirl. Worst thing that can happen is I ruin a pin.

Thanks for the heads up.

I destroyed my RCBS decapping pin with a berdan primer. I had to replace the die pin. I then bought the Lee Decapping die and was really liking it until I hit another dang berdan. Amazon had a multi pack of the Lee pins so I bought a few.
