Lawton, Stiller triggers

I just picked up my Lawton and Stiller receivers the other day and now I need to come up with triggers. The Lawton is a SA 7000 and will be a 6X47Lapua, set up to be a coyote rifle. The Stiller is a Tac30 and will be a 223AI, set up to be a varmint rifle. Any suggestions on what triggers are good for these setups? Any to stay away from? Thanks

cinch,

I not sure if these actions will take a top safety like a Remington, If they will a Jewel top safety, if not get a jewel bottom safety. I don't know if these actions need a bolt release or has a release built into the action. Jewel will have a trigger that will work for what you have. Jewel is the only way to go.

Thanks, Mark. They both have a side bolt release and are both a Remington 700 footprint so I'm pretty sure they will take a top safety. I've never used a Jewell before. I've heard they are the best, but I've also heard they will not function if they get the slightest amount of dirt in them. Any truth to tthe rumors? Thanks

Not to many triggers will work as planned with dirt in them, not even the trustworthy
old faithful jewell...
The actions you have will take the Jewell trigger with out a problem..
There is none better.....

If you get dirt in your trigger Jewell recommends that you flush it out with nothing but lighter fluid. For the best price and service you'll find contact Larry at GreatScottShooters.com 270-924-5290

I have Rifle basix triggers on my Stiller Predator and Borden Timberline both set at 12oz, my buddy has a jewel on his Lawton 7500.
In operation i really cant tell the difference both triggers are excellent but IMO the jewel is let down by its thin trigger blade.

Comparing a Jewell to a Rifle Basix is like comparing a Mercedes to a Yugo.

Can't agree. It's not that big of a difference. Maybe a Mercedes to a Chevy. The Yugo was a piece of sh*t. The Rifle Basix are definitely serviceable.

And the Jewell trigger blade is too thin for applications outside of BR shooting. For 2 ounces, their thin blade is fine. But for 1.5 pounds, for example, a wider trigger would be preferable to me. YMMV, especially if you're unfortunate enough to drive a Yugo. ;)

LOL. You're right, that was a bit harsh.

I've only played with a couple of the RB's, and they were of the 2oz variety. Both took a lot of time to get them even close to an acceptable pull rate. And they were still not nearly as nice as a Jewell BR model. Most of my work is with BR rifles though.

Huber Concepts makes a top of the line top safety that will work on the lawton and the stiller as well IIRC. They also make them in a full SS trigger as well. I highly recommend these triggers.
