Bolt face size

I'm getting ready to order a Lawton 7500 action. I would like to chamber it for the 7mm Remington Mag. The magnum bolt face that Lawton makes is .545. The 7mm Remington Mag is .532. Is this acceptable? It will be used for a heavy barrel varmint /target rifle.

Lucky, it depends on the ability of the extractor to hold onto the cartridge until it is ejected. If the fired case can move far enough away from the extractor claw as it is extracted from the chamber, it may release the case too early and allow it to kick out, hit the inside of the receiver ring and flop back into the receiver. Ask Lawton when you call them. They will know for certain.

Sounds like a great build. Good luck, Tom

The .545 bolt face will work fine for you, I have one set up for the 7mm SAUM with the same bolt face in a 7500 Lawton. I also have a standard bolt for it just in case.....
