Laser Bore sight to Align Chronograph

Have an older Ohler 33 and want to set it up quicker. Do not use it often so don't want to spring for a Lab or something else. With all of the new range rules, do not touch your rifle during a cease fire, I thought using one of these would help things. Is the Bushnell one for $30 good enough? Suggestions? Thanks

I have a Bushnell and would not recommend it for use beyond about 20 feet. The laser is not centered so at about 30 feet you will get about an 8 inch diameter circle by rotating it in the rifle bore. Even for only 30 bucks a person would think they would be able to center the laser light, but I guess not.

remove your bolt and lay the laser in the action. it will shine down the barrel enough that you can set up the chrono.

added benefit is you cant forget to remove it before you fire.

Here is a way to save yourself some time and money.
1. Setup your rifle so it's pointed at the intended target.
2. Remove your bolt and go to the front of your chrono and look back at your scope from the front for a full field of view. (Safety first, last and always)
3. Adjust your chrono so it's centered with the scope and you will be very close every time.
I hope this helps,

Lloyd

That's what I do. Also, set scope at lower power and look through it after this to confirm.

I found that what worked for me were the cartridge style bore sighters to help set up my Chrony. I would set up my rifle on the bench, in the rest, scoped on target, then set up the chronograph as you would, using the cartridge laser in the chamber to adjust. If you hold a piece of paper just beyond the screens you will see exactly where the bore is aligned and adjust your tripod as necessary. Faster than going back and forth sighting down the barrel, zero chance of hitting the chronograph. Safer than the laser stuck in the end of the barrel because you have to eject the laser before you can load a live round. I have found these laser bore sighters pretty cheap on amazon or eBay.

Lloyd, Tried it today and it registered the first shot! Thanks for the idea.

Tcross, They do not make one in 6 PPC. Good idea if it is offered in the caliber you shoot.
