Larger 7's for F-Class

Alex....Is the 280AI better than the 284 Shehane ? What would make the 280 brass last longer (Win vs Lap)? Barrel life ? IME powder charges wouldn't be that much different. I would like your thoughts on this.

The longer neck on the 280ai has some obvious benefits. The case is not rebated like the 284 so theres less bolt thrust, so the primer pockets should hold up better. Lapua makes brass for the 30-06, I would use it for the 280 ai. Velocity and barrel life will be about the same, the 280 ai will hold a little more powder. Its pretty close, and I not saying the difference will be huge. I just dont like the 284 lapua cases ability to deal with pressure. The saum is a good choice too, no reason you cant run the 2850 node with a saum.

Talking about bigger 7mms, had the rsaum out today for a few ladder tests:

Maxed out the 195s at 3089fps. The Bat "M" said no mas.
Ladder ran out before I saw pressure with the 180s going 3201fps.

8.5tw 32" barrel, Lab Radar actually kept working today. Powder is secret recipe Not saying that I would compete with those loads on a hot day and a 22 shot string, but running most any of the higher nodes should not be a problem.

Guess I will not be taking it to Canada.

Reloader 26 will get you a comfortable 2950fps out of saum with 195's but is double based an will eat your barrel up at a really fast rate. But for hunting rig i guess it would be ok.....
