When I am developing a load for a particular rifle, the last incursion into the "development plan" is primers. If your accuracy is not real good, a primer change MAY fix that problem. If your E.S. / S.D's are not that good, a primer change MAY fix that problem too. I am retired and I have the time to REALLY develop loads for my F-Open rifles. My goals are: 1.) to stay somewhere between 3/4" and 1-1/4" @ 300 yards. 2.) to find and maintain my E.S.'s to be under 15f.p.s. with under 10, IF POSSIBLE.. Most of my rifles stay 12 and under>>only 1 so far is about 15-17 and I can't seem to get it lower. My 6mmBR usually hovers around 6ft. e.s.! That is the one I use PRIMARILY at 300 BUT just as often as not, I use it at 600>>>I have never tried it at 1000.. I have found that if I am getting e.s.'s above 20+ f.p.s. a primer change WILL ALMOST ALWAYS correct that problem. Primers are just 1 piece of the Mosaic, nevertheless, it is an important piece of the accuracy puzzle.
