Lapua 223 Rem Match Case Quality - 2025

Lapua 223 Remington Match brass cases are coming back on the market in the USA after being scarce in 2023 and 2024. The packaging has changed to cardboard racks in 2025 (see photo), so I evaluated characteristics of 2025 brass (lot LPT05107) to those of 2022 brass (lot LPT02449) using virgin and once-fired brass.

There was less than a one percent (1%) lot-to-lot variation in case weight, case volume, neck-wall thickness, and muzzle velocity from standard charge between lots manufactured in 2025 and 2022. Low lot-to-lot variation of Lapua brass agrees well with studies that I did in 2023.

It is great to have high quality Lapua brass available again for match rifles that is interchangeable with brass I have previously used.

I see vendors such as Midway selling them as of today for $89/100 piece box with taxes and shipping on top of cost. I stumbled onto a one-time sale and purchased boxes for an average of $89 per box including shipping/insurance and taxes.
With the 20% Trump tariff on Finnish imports effective April 9, it is unclear what the price will go to and whether distribution of limited supplies may be shunted by Nammo companies based in Europe to preferred trading partners (e.g., EU countries, UK, Australia, and Canada).

Me too, but I do miss the old blue plastic boxes, as they were useful in the gun room for storing small parts and other 'important stuff'.

No more dented cases or case mouths with the new packaging though.

Dang the wait was endless. I have 2k starline to burn up now. How sad.

I gave up on Lapua. Was always hit an miss with their cases, for me.
I switched to Starline and never looked back.
