Lapping Factory ARA Barrels

Agree or not but yet another testament that factory target is far too easy.
Set up that way to introduce guys to some version of RFBR, but currently it’s become ridiculous.

I think it would be easier to simply limit Factory Class to a bipod and rear bag--no rests
Everything else could stay exactly as is and keep the continuity and we could look back on it like the period of steroids in baseball-- so the home run stats were a little skewed

All these strings of 2500's have really just started to pop up right? However many years into the class now it is natural scores would keep going up as shooters learn the game--refine the equipment and then they decide to really really go for it with massive ammo buys and maybe even working through a number of rifles looking for the best barrel etc and don't forget that trigger technology has been improving pretty steady with more choices than ever now...
Just a few angles to consider before we change that target
I heard another shooter say keep the target but put one row of unlimited in it --I thought that was a cool idea that sounded like fun

I doubt ARA will make any major changes to Factory Class at this point and that's ok. People are enjoying it and it's helped ARA in a big way. It's even helped Unlimited class as Factory shooters move on to a more difficult challenge

So here's a thought....How many factory shooters have NEVER shot a 2500. My guess is a lot more than you might think.

Or another way to look at it, how many UL shooters who are quite competitive and shot for years, have never shot one…..outdoors, you know, the way God intended BR to be shot.

The ARA Factory Class is a Success!! It works.
I shoot a lot of clubs with a lot of rules for rimfire rifles--it is all a jumble and many times the rules make no sense--the rules seem to assume that the starting point is grandpa's old Remington Targetmaster or similar--when in fact I have not seen a rifle like that show up ever--Then they all seem to try and put the CZ MTR's a class or two up from where they should be because they all do so well --punch above their weight so to speak--but then they will let an Anschutz in a factory class--it is a mess to be sure but we make do by having different rifles that we take to different clubs to fit in a class that we can be competitive in .

So then I discovered the ARA factory Class--I love it! You get your results posted nationwide--you can see how you stack up and are improving--it is a Level playing field .
They have done a fine job with keeping the rules as they are and not changing every time the wind blows--this is a big deal.
You want to see what are the best factory rifles? Go to a match--very quick you see Bergara B14 and CZ MTR are the hitters--get one and jump in!

As far as the target is too easy? I go back to my statement about folks learning their equipment--better triggers, and the will to practice enough to excell. The guy that shot 6 2500's against me Sat says he shoots one or two cards a DAY --every day so....I also think ok so what if the top three shoot perfect cards then X count can decide the winner--I just see no need in changing a thing target included. It is after all supposed to be a gateway class--Let the Gods of benchrest--the Unlimited guys battle it out --Let the entry level class be just that --a way to learn the ropes and the game.

It ain't broke--I don't think it needs fixing
At the ARA matches ( where it counts) there is Never any complaining about Factory class in any way--all of the shooters I shoot with Love it and attend on a regular basis. I have never heard any talk about hard or easy or changing anything Again so what the top two dual it out with 2500's? Let X count settle it like always
