LabRadar

I got my LabRadar the other day.
Used it today.
Dang IT"S GREAT.
easy set up.
On bench setup
don't need 3 people to set you up.
Total out of box to use about 40 minutes, no wire tripods screens sunlight.
Set up and shoot.
Small learning curve. No risk of shooting a hole in it.
Go get one.

I'm not sure this is widely known but future firmware updates will turn on the Bluetooth capabilities already built into the units. They are working on smartphone apps that will communicate with the LabRadar. At a minimum, I'm guessing we will be able to control the units remotely. I'm hoping there will be data analysis reports that you will be able to view immediately on your phone. Very cool.

I have one on its way received the conformation today... Thud when setting it up on a bench how finicky is it about placement.I originally ordered mine with their bench plate. I have a couple of long barreled rifles 28 & 30". I was told the unit needed to be about 2" behind a non braked muzzle. After giving my bench setup a hard look at this is not possible so I ordered the tripod. Just curious how you are setting yours up off a bench.

The bench I use is long. So no issue with the plate. Either with brakes or no brakes.
In just starting to use it followed instructions and sighted the target and placed unit as instructed but had to fine tune placement. Found out you don't need to be exact.
Just experiment with placement.

I agree that with a non-suppressed rifle it's awesome. I got some learning to do but it seems to be pretty finicky on position when using a suppressed rifle...like it almost needs to be slightly in front of or even with the end of the suppressor.

You can always run it in Dopler mode, just plug it into an external power source and your good to go.

Mine works up to 18" behind and 18" offset the muzzle with a braked rifle but with small unbraked rifles I must use the minimum offset(right next to the muzzle) and have the unit almost even with the muzzle, as per their instructions. See the pistol position in the diagram.

Thanks...i didn't even think about that. I read about it but it didn't dawn on me that would be the solution. Almost feel stupid I didn't think about it. :)

Well Thud,
Now that you have a LabRadar you going to have to make yourself a proper case. Like this one:

Triggering can also be finicky with lighter loads and smaller calibers. Even with the end of the barrel seems to give the best results.

Mine also requires some effort to get the radar beam aligned with the bullet path. I've learned to start with larger caliber bullets and get it aligned so it is reporting the velocity at the farthest distance, and then tweak the alignment slightly to do the same every time I step down in caliber or move from a flat base to a boat tail bullet. Alignment is easier with larger calibers and flat base bullets.

Mine wont pickup shots on anything except the highest sensitivity. Frustrating because at that level it also picks up my neighbors shots.

Need to keep playing with location relative to the muzzle i suppose.

If you don't use a muzzle brake, you need to locate the labradar even with your muzzle. Since most ranges like the muzzle past the end of the bench, I built a support to move mine out. I can post a photo later.

With a 30 inch barrel that makes it impossible to reach from prone.. But I'll try moving it out more next time. Thanks

Maybe the Bluetooth will allow you to fully control the unit remotely.
