LabRadar

Sounds like that is your problem. With my 30 in barrel and 6BR (tiny) muzzzle blast I was getting no readings the first day I went. moved it out to my muzzle and it picked up every shot. Make sure it is "aimed" at your target. Yes, I can see that you can't reach it from prone. You'll have to turn it on before you get down.

I agree. It just seems odd that when it's set on the highest sensitivity setting, and placed where I can reach it, it works fine (and but also picks up shots 10ft away). Turn the sensitivity down one level, and it won't pick up anything from that spot.

I see this post is 8 years old. Why was the Garmin such a big hit when it came out, not long ago?
Aren't they about the same?

When the LabRadar is functioning perfectly and someone else is carrying it around and setting it up, yes they’re about the same. Trouble is that rarely happens.

If I knew I wouldn't have asked. ;]

The Garmin is the size of a pack of cigarettes and comes with a tiny (functional) tripod. Nothing else is needed. Set it next to your rifle and it never misses a shot. With the advent of the little Garmin, you can hardly give a LabRadar away. I've got an Oehler 35P sitting here. It works perfectly but I doubt it's even sellable.
