Krieger barrel put in AR yesterday. Sticky situation. Advice? Pic attached

You got some good information on this page. I sent you another PM Enjoy the trip. Our baby boy is 50 years old, but I remember the first haircut.

Got the new Hornady head space gauge out tonight. I measured once fired brass and some reloads.

Once fired Lapua from the new Krieger barrel....

1.461 x2
1.460 x4
1.459 x1

Reloads...

1.455 x6
1.456 x1

So, what do these numbers mean? If I'm following the earlier advice, I'm in pretty good shape. Looks like my dies are setting shoulder about 0.005" back from the chamber. Which is close to what I read is the goal for an AR. Seems 0.003-0.005" is the goal. Just curious what I should do next with this information. Thanks for anyone that might point me in the right direction.

Check your case length too. I had a situation like this on my 6.5 Grendel with brass formed from 7.62x39. Turns out my neck length was too long (0.005" over Alexander Arms recommendations).

You are correct Dan , those numbers indicate that you are bumping between .005 and .006" .

Your next course of action would be to measure over all length of brass now to ensure it hasn't grown longer than the "Trim to length" .

If the brass is not in need of a trimming then you should ensure that it will cycle smoothly , if it does then you should be golden... If it does not feed smoothly then you have just found out that the cause of sticky feed is not due to the shoulder because you KNOW you have .005" clearance.

The next logical area would be near the Web area and if that's the case then you might look into a small base die and start the process over with that die.

Good luck.

Shot second batch of reloads today. While I still need to do some measuring and comparing on brass, my initial impression is I'm in good shape. Shot best group I've ever shot, 0.501". Will uniform all the brass next. Not sure what else to do to improve on this. Doubt my skill level could realize it. Not sure. Happy camper. New barrel. Half inch group. Learned something new. Wanted to thank you guys for your help. Now I guess it's time to learn more about case prep. Annealing. Etc. ha ha.
