King of 2 mile

The guys that did the super accurate 416 HE did another
416 HE that has an 8" longer 42 inch K&P barrel..

Used a Stiller action and same load with 475 gr bullet, as in
first gun and and gained about 200 fps with good accuracy.
3065 fps. Tested 2 groups of 3 and less than 1/2 min moa.

And loads they used are not the highest speed loads
the cartridge is capable of....Here is print with specs for
the 416 HE reamer chamber ....Ed....

After reading all of the anti's responses here, and having been to one of these matches; I am reminded that shooting this match is NOT compulsory. Unlike paying taxes, you are not obligated to participate.

Perhaps all of you naysayers should band together, pony up a couple thousand dollars apiece; and form your own long range association. Post the plan here in a new thread, and allow 60 days for input on a set of rules. Adopt a majority consensus set of rules, and prepare to hunker down for a barrage of profanity. You will see verbal abuse equivalent to the Nazi Blitzkreig of London in WWII.

Here is print with chamber reamer specs for the
416 HSM chamber..There are 3 base sizes we have,
depending on actions used. Got reamers for all 3..
Got cases for all of them..
Our cases are public domain, so that is why I post
info and specs. Manson makes reamers I use,,, Ed.

I would love to see them adopt a format that allows all shooters to shoot all the stages. Miss and you're out isn't very fun if you miss. I would imagine that for a lot of people, these matches are a large percentage of the number of rounds they get to put down range under match conditions with the proper targets, etc. Why cut people off? I don't get that part at all.
I can’t say for sure but the first thing that comes to mind for me is time allowing all shooters shoot at all targets would make for a much longer match

And they keep changing the rules on gun weight !! - What about the competitors who've built rifles to meet a previous weight limit then to have it nullified because they want to keep dropping the weight limit. - Kof2M came about "through" the FCSA - And the FCSA weight limit on a "Hunter-Class" rifle has & is 50 Pounds. - Hence the weight limit for ALL of these events should be 50 pounds - Period.

My .02

And for these reasons, your comments and Esoteric Junkie's previous, are the reasons why I decided not to commit to building and competing.

This entire 'game' makes about as much sense as taking a whizz against a 90 mph wind!!
One time a long time ago,my brother and I threw a foam buoy into a lake and shot at it with BB guns to see if we could hit as it floated away. Another time we shot at a Coke can at 50-60 yards to see if we could hit it.Point is ,because we wanted to try. Too each his own. Jeff

GREAT, do our own thing...

Here is experimental action for 416 HSM in a heavy
stock....We lengthened port a little, set bolt stop back ,
opened bolt face fit the 416 HSM rebated rim. Ed.

Here is comparison of Montana PH to Pierce action we
modified to use for rebated rim 416 HSM testing..Ed.

416 & 460 HE AND 416 & 460 HSM .LONG RANGE AND HUNTING
Can be set up in Pierce X10 ACTION for the 416 & 460 HE
AND X20 action for the 416 & 460 HSM , Can get those
if guys need one...Ed

Come on guys. Think about it. How is King of 2 mile any worse than other competitions?
K2M might think their competition is better. BR guys think putting groups on paper is better, F-class guys think shooting from a bench is ridiculous and hitting center target is more important than group size. PRS guys shoot from difficult positions that relate to real world application so they must be the most skilled shooters right? 3 gun is all about speed so they must be the best. Archery guys think everyone with a gun is a moron. And EVERY major competition has sponsors looking to advertise and sell their product.

Point is who the hell cares! Competitions are all just a bunch of big ol' pissin' contests that ultimately mean absolutely nothing in real life. They're just peoples personal hobbies. This Montana 2K competition is no different nor is it any better. Have respect for the style of shooting each person chooses to enjoy.
Haters are going to hate (LOL). Your post is spot on.

-Cheers

I just wish they had all the PRS and F-Class when I was in shape to lay on the ground and run to different stations, I've watched it on TV. and thought man if my knees and back would just handle the stress I would love to try that. But at 75 who am I kidding. But I can still Bowhunting and I love it. So I'd say age is a biggie.

Same here ole friend, age is a biggie. My 76 will roll around in Sept. and I enjoy hunting with my son and grandson but miss the good ole days too. But don't miss them 50-60 lb. HG's at all. Knees, hip, shoulder and heart have paid the price. But we did have a good ride.

Stay well

Bill

Bill hope everything is well with you and your family, I'm still caring that 85 lb gun to the line. Miss the old days also. I do enjoy the LG. but the HG. was how I started out back in 1971, It doesn't seem possible that 50 years have gone by. The Nationals this year are going to be in your neck of the woods and God willing I plan on being there so stop and say hello I miss you buddy.
