Just Whining about Getting Old!

I am 72 and on day 10 of post hemorrhoidectomy surgery. Everyday has been a challenge….especially with doing the #2. Can’t do much more than go from the bed to the couch. Yes, those GOLDEN YEARS. What a pain in the AZZ.
I had that done in my very early 30's. Walking was very uncomfortable, plus you walked like you just got off a horse after 2 weeks in the saddle.

Never again, I eat better now - to a degree.

77 years old here and the Lord has truly blessed me. All original parts, never had a broken bone, lift weights and walk 2 miles every day. Do take a few meds and have had several cortisone shots in knee and shoulder.

Still enjoy attending benchrest rimfire and center fire matches.

I do enjoy my naps

Just turned 85 went out in the shop to get the chain saw , and though it was nailed to the floor .Can't believe how heavy it was , Last time I used I had NO problem using it .
"Only" 81 here but I must have a chainsaw like yours. Guessing my other tools are getting fat as near everything is getting heavier. Even my motorcycles and bicycle are getting both heavier and taller to get on. Also don't understand how my 600 yard groups are like my old 1,000 yard ones.

Really did lose 2" of height. Looked all around and just cannot find those 2".

I turn 59 tomorrow. We had to re route the gas line to the house. My wife was going to hire a plumber to which I said I will not pay someone to do something I can do myself. Had to dig about 60 ft of ditch starting Saturday. The ground here is black clay and harder than a woman's heart. Finished yesterday but today everything hurts, I mean everything. Even my toes from kneeling so much. The body is starting to show excessive mileage but the brain is just as stubborn as it was at 25.

That is my problem , I still want to do it my self till I get started and find out I can't . Called to different people to do some things today that I can't do anymore .

I am just starting to learn some things!
1- No, I can't just do that myself anymore.
2- Why did I work so hard to earn that money, ... but now I am so dumb that I want to repair everything myself when I could be at the range or just sitting under a tree in the woods and have someone do that job?
3- As hard as it is to believe for me, ... yes, someone else can do that repair so I don't have to waste my time doing it!
4- Reread number #2 until I finally get it through my hard as a rock head that this is why I worked my butt off in the first place!

I'll be 87 next month, working on a bench gun, but slowly! A few of my parts are original. Shot deer last year with a rifle and a cross bow and was able to dress them with the help of the FEL on our tractor. Said tractor and I keep the snow plowed. Son and I mange 200 acres for deer. When I start a job, the first things are a chair and figuring out a way to get up off the ground! St Sandra and I have been antagonizing each other for 65 years, 80 years ago we walked to kindergarten together. Youngest son and DIL are getting ready to retire. Then he can help me full time! They are our neighbors and I don't know how elders live without young help. I try to live by my favorite quote " yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift and that's why it is called the present"

Still not sure what I'll do when I grow up.

So l had a toothache few weeks ago and went to the dentist. He says it has an abscess. A root canal and crown will save it. $2500 PLEASE! A few months shy of 80yrs. No thanks DOC! For $755 tomorrow an oral surgeon will remove #20 lower left while l am asleep!! And what if l don't wake UP? No Problem. My LORD JESUS will give me a NEW BODY!!

Update: Well, l survived! Now what do l do with the money saved by NOT getting that root canal? A sizable bit for me. Let me think about it after these pain meds wear off. l will keep yall posted about those unused$$$

Yup, old body keeps telling me about more stuff that I used to do myself, just isn't a good idea anymore. What I can't figure out, is why some parts I never did any damage to, decided to hurt now, paying for past sins I didn't know about, I guess. Could be worse, I can still get around, and just have to pace myself to do the stuff I insist on doing still.
