Just Whining about Getting Old!

I’m 82, Celebrex (Celecoxib) and CBD cream are my trusted friends. Every joint seems to complain about this or that movement or activity. That’s OK though, I will go as long as I can.
I am just grateful to have made it this far. I have nothing to whine about. Yes, I’ve had some bad times, but the good times overshadow them. i think life is a lot like the stock market, there are ups and downs, but if you are in it to win you have to stick it out and learn from your mistakes.

Ever notice that when we dream we’re always a younger version of ourselves ?
“In contrast” I had a dream/ vision awhile ago viewing myself from behind like a portrait view, my hair was gray and long with a similar elder next to me holding a two piece cane pole extending to the ground near a smoldering camp fire, when I asked what that meant he replied that pole represented my journey and the fire was also mine and still burning yet slowing down, neither was completed or out.
There was more to it but that’s the overview.

I'm 67 and new to the forum. Done a lot of things in my life, skydived for 20 yrs, the martial arts for 30 yrs, harvested wild rice since the mid 70s, still flintknapping, making long bows, shot trap and skeet for many yrs, making maple syrup for the last 25 yrs, worked hard physically my whole life. No regrets. I definitely have to slow down now. Went to the chiropractor the other day for my back and he said something like you really can't do crazy anymore in reply to my question if I could go back to chopping wood. (Had to take a couple weeks off for my back). I joked back "how about 2/3 rds crazy? The truth is like a couple people said that my mind still feels 20 but my body won't cash the checks anymore

I won't go into all the broken bones here, I did that years ago here and yes there are more now. I learned at about age five that life is very, very short and if you truly want to do something, you better do it as soon as you can.

No, you don't start a "bucket list" that is just B.S. that has never been true unless your bucket list is only reading about what others have done like what we are doing here. If you want to climb that mountain or see what's on the other side of this world, get off your backside and do it Now!

The lie about doing it after you make your first million is B.S. as well. For most people if you have made your first or maybe 27th million, you are firmly addicted to making money and you are very unlikely to change.

All that money won't buy the chance to do what you dreamed of when you were younger and could actually have done that instead of now when it takes you 10 minutes just to get up.

I started working two jobs a day when I was 16 because I wanted to do things in life besides just being poor. No I'm not special, like many others here, I found out that your body will let you work more than eight hours if you simply take the time to teach it.

I will leave you with one more and then I promise I will get off the soapbox. I was born with degenerative spinal scoliosis and told I would never get out of a wheelchair, this was in the late 1940's. I never could stand being told I couldn't do something so I worked my a** off and one by one I have done everything I wanted to do in this life.

Including building and driving the last of many NHRA racecars. the last one was a altered certified to 236mph with a E.T. of 6.8 in the quarter.

NEVER let anyone or anything tell you, you can't because you and the lord are the only ones who can say that.

I 100 percent agree. I really would like to learn more about long range shooting. If there is something I've learned over the years it's that the learning curve on some of these things is long term. I keep learning more every year about everything I do. To me a day without learning something is a wasted day. My body won't let me do some of the things I used to, or at least make them slower and harder. I still want to keep learning. Even with my journey with the lord I keep learning all the time. I hope to do that the rest of my life

I used to get irritated when I would get downstairs and wonder WTF did I come down here for. Then it dawned on me that I have a excellent old fart exercise system. I call it the triple A double D (Age activated attention deficit disorder) fitness program. Enhanced by CRS. All the extra trips add up to miles walked. And you get in cardio from climbing the stairs on every circuit.
