At the rifle range today to tune up my 223 Rem Model 7 with 20" Douglas Match barrel getting ready for some hogging.
When I arrived, a fellow as shooting what sounded like a 105 Howitzer. The roar even made more intense with the brake on the rifle. No way was I going to start shooting until he finished. Fortunately, I didn't have to wait long, he was at the end of his ammo. I looked at the bench where he was shooting and saw one of the largest rifle cartridge cases I have ever seen for a shoulder rifle. It looked like a shortened Cuban Cigar it was so fat.
A conversation ensued. He said he was shooting a 375 Cheytac, 400 grain bullets, about 150 grains of powder! I think he said the rifle weighed 30 lbs. Just when I think I've seen it all in the shooting sports, something like this happens! Any of you ever hear of this cartridge? It's a monster!
PS: Joking, I told him that if any dinosaurs appeared in the neighborhood, I would surely give him a call.
