Or, in this case, nothing. I've been looking at the gun shows for two years for a clean used LRE. Nada!
I stop at Shiloh on the way home from the reunion, and order one. 15 months +/- delivery time. Six days later, I am at the local gun show, and there are three for sale!
First, a Gemmer replica. A rarity, first time I've seen a used one for sale, Shiloh built a very, very, few, Gemmer Sharps. He was the successor to Samuel Hawken in the 1870's. He built a few Hawken cartridge rifles using Sharps, Rollers, and even, according to rumors; a Wesson Long Range Rifle action. This one was a 45-70, and I would bet a Yankee Dollar or three the recoil would be grim.
The other two were LRE's (Long Range Express); one was a 45-70, the other a 45-90.
Feast or famine...
