Broughton or Brux (have to check my notes) 8 twist throated for 70 and 85 grain bullets by Bob Green. Old Tikka 595 action. Home made stock with a little bit of fancy grain. With a little lip bending of the factory mag and an additional spring, it feeds ok.

Stock looks fantastic. What magazine did you use? Seen a varmint 22-250 mag feed pretty good at a shop. Could you elaborate on the extra spring? If you would care to.

Factory mag that came with the gun. When I first tried it, the round being fed would push the round below it forward and nose down in the mag, where it stuck.I bent the top of the 2nd spring into an oval, a little bigger than the inside of the follower. I used a Dremel to cut a groove in the sides of the inside of the follower, then pressed the spring into the groove.

Thanks, Guys. I have to say "Thank you" to Preacher for turning me on to the new oil. It makes my diddleing look almost professional.

Quick question, did you bed it? I have one of these actions in a Master Sporter stock configuration, no bedding. I've had to keep a close eye on the action screw torque or they start to loosen up and my groups open up. Of course, mine is in a heavier recoiling caliber (308), but soon to be re-barreled.

Overall it does really well with the flat bottomed action in an un-bedded stock, but I am considering bedding it when I have it re-barreled.

Great, now quit diddling and go shoot the damn thing! :p:D Was that olive or corn oil?View attachment 1039391

It has a slight balsamic smell to it and he did mention Virgins had something to do with it. Extract, sacrifice ,chanting? It's been a while and I'm a little foggy on the conversation.;)
No shooting until it warms up a little more. Besides, I have my new duplicator to play with and a bunch more stocks to make.

Atglen today. Got to get this new 28 Nosler dialed in for the next hunt in April. Been driving me nuts but I think I got it figured out.

I pillar and bed all the stocks I make. I have a couple Master Sporters that I shoot on special occasions. A 22-250 and a 308. I treat them as "collectibles". I buy run of the mill 595's and make a stock for them. The original slotted action screws are a pain to torque so I hit the hardware store and buy machine bolts that take an Allen wrench.

Great Work Josh-- I dont think anybody can really appreciate what goes into a stock like that until they try it.

Thanks. You want to know something funny? I'm glad I posted the build it thread. When I haven't done one for a while, I have to go back and read it to be reminded how I did it. I must be getting old!:eek::eek:

did you use the duplicator on this one or "The Old Fashioned Way"?

Old fashioned. I'm duplicating my first stock now. Old dog, new tricks. Major brain strain figuring out a new system, what to do and what not to do. Over thinking things. The old method was a bunch of simple steps, one building off the last. Duplicating is like jumping out of an airplane. Prep all you want but once you jump, you're committed. I might be making some nice firewood.;) I made this stock a short while ago but I just got the new barrel back on Friday.
