Just an observation

As some of you know, I work part time in a store here on the east side of the state of Oregon, where people still believe in the American way of life. Since measure 114 passed our sporting goods department has has been packed solid with people buying firearms before things change.

As I walked through the sporting goods department yesterday I watched a young housewife with two little children in tow come in to do the paperwork to get her two ar15's before the stupidity law goes in to effect and we become a shining example of what America is becoming for the world to see.

It made me very proud to see that people here on this side of the state still believe in our country, ... and very sad to see that it has come to this point.

I’m sorry but I just don’t understand Oregon. A year ago we wandered into Oregon with no objective in mind. We needed gasoline so we checked prices and you were about $1.00 higher than Montana. We got enough to get us back to Montana and said screw Oregon if it’s going to be like that everywhere. Did I miss something? I mean with taxes and all?

While I strongly support the 2nd Amendment and I don't wish to rain on your parade, I would be amiss if I didn't offer the following.

I just hope first time gun owners seek and obtain some basic training on safety and how to safely and properly handle their new firearm. This is especially necessary with the widespread sales of semi-auto pistols which can be somewhat more complicated than a revolver, although training is needed for both.

I see far too many first-time gun owners at the range that don't have clue how their new firearm functions let alone basic safety precautions. Just encountered this last week at the pistol range. Of course, I'm always willing to help and in fact I enjoy helping a first-time owner, but some are not receptive to such help, so I tread very carefully when I see a fellow shooter struggling.

Then there is the vitally important issue of understanding your State's Law regarding use of deadly force, especially in today's environment.

Maybe she should learn how to vote.
True, but I voted against it, checked on my ballot statis for being recieved for days... it always said 0 results. It's A corrupt all mail in fruad type voting system...but only 45% of people voted 1.66 million fruad by mail votes left on the table ... or disposed of? Who knows? Portland is so filthy, and crime ridden people in city voted overwhelming for it, and I have no reason to ever enter that cesspool. But our county Sheriff will no enforce it...it put a huge burden on the sheriff's budget. The rest of the state has been talking about forming a new Oregon portion of the state leaving those liberals to vote in their 4 or so counties by themselves...their problems are not our problems. We get no say, and tired of it. New California has been working on it too. It's been done before and is totally constitutional..west Virginia could not live with Virginia...and formed West Virginia.

It takes some learning when you go to autos after sa actions and double actions. I had been shooting a da like your handle and went to a woodsman. Went off on me . Lucky I had it pointed in a safe spot. It took me a little bit to realize, hey this thing is ready to go , no cocking. I dont think you should have to go to a course but you need to figure it out. A really aggravating issue with the M114 is no provisions for us older guys that grew up with firearms, have for years had a concealed carry license and passed every background check ever dreamed up. BUT now we have to pay $65 for the 'privilege' of buying a gun, PLUS complete a silly test to see IF we can handle said weapon properly. Been doing that for my entire life, but now have to prove it to some bureaucrat who most likely knows much less than I do.

Right now there is a backlog of over 12,000 people in the background check que. Not to mention none of the Sheriffs here are set up for this, lack the manpower to implement it, nor have the funds to make it work. All this thanks to a stupid "feel-good" measure implemented by libtards in Portland. Imagine that, and be afraid this crap does not spread outside Oregon borders.

Never say "it can't happen here". I said that until it did......

Sheriff's have been stating they won't enforce it. That being said, unless I'm missing something, I think the only thing they can choose to not enforce is the mag capacity limit. I don't believe they have any say in the blocks being out into place for purchase with the permit program. I guess unless they just hand out permits left and right. I'm thankful they are taking a stand, but fear they are limited in how much they can choose to "not enforce"

NY SAFE ACT (1) had a provision for registering all "previously owned" Semi-Auto rifles with certain characteristics. The first thing that happened was that the NY State Police refused to reveal how many actually did it. To my knowledge, only certain FFL holders in my area did, and a few cops who were afraid of getting jammed up. Most of them just went on with business. Of the hundreds of thousands of those rifles that were estimated to have been in NY, it is rumored only an infintismal number were registered.

The ACT also required ammunition background checks and there was no provision (like Oregon) to do it. No money, no equipment, no budget. It has been about ten years now and it took them this long to get that up and running, in time for the IMPROVED SAFE ACT 2.

Of course we all know by now that legislators are writing laws and passing them that they KNOW would fail the constitutional test, but they rely on the fact that the courts are overloaded, it takes forever for the court to even be presented the case, and by then ten years have passed. And by then (since not one damn thing good has come from the law, ie. no change in criminal behavior, they can go to the public and whine and wail about "lax" laws and put forth some other IMPROVED ACT to "fix' It.

People are so stupid.

Yes, it's the 10 rd mag limit that the sheriff's not supporting...the silly range trip for each gun purchased has not been set up and no funds for it.
Sportsman's was super busy selling guns for days now. I wounder what kind of range trip quilfies you with just an AR frame? No barrel, no mag, no trigger, no bolt, etc...but the piece of aluminum called a frame has a serial number by ATF definition a gun. State police do an enhanced background, and keep a public list...besides the federal background already required.
This should be unconstitutional in a court of law before it's even implemented.
I have a lifetime supply of guns, and can build my own, so it doesn't concern me, except the unconstitutional part, and the almost total infringement, on rights by a totalitarian government...plus I should be able to buy a gun without all the extra fees, permits, double enhanced background, and proficiency tests for every new gun.

Its tough to move, but your freedom may depend on it. You dont want to be behind bars trying to fight the idiots that have an upper hand on you
Yes, they are famous for the Jan 6th treatment around here long before that happened in DC.
Justice, and law enforcement are corrupt, the FBI snipers fired 2 shots on a man with his hands up and missed. Ordered him to back up where the state police murderd him by shooting him in the back 3 or 4 times, and the cop was promoted to lieutenant. The others went to Portland in federal jurisdiction and corrupt court system works with government to punish citizens they deem domestic terrorists, for exercising their rights. Spend 2.5 yrs in prison, beaten by guards, asked to take a government plea deal...they refused for 2.5 yrs. Went to trial and the jury found them not guilty...the Portland Federal justice department, FBI, and state cops were angry. So yes you could be called a domestic terrorist cause you have one or two rds extra in your magazine...jailed without due process and asked to plead to a lesser crime where you only get 10 yrs... cause your extra 2 rds in your mag were definitely a plot against your government as Homeland Security injects itself in "your case." Along with the "famous FBI investigations".
