Just an observation

One real bitch of fact here in Oregon, is that on 8 Dec 2022, no retailer can sell any firearm to an individual without that person obtaining a valid Purchase Permit as they call it. So all our retailers are effectively out of the firearm business as of that date, as NO ONE can issue this permit, because none exist, and there is no system in place to print and issue the damn things, not to mention the "enhanced" background checks they want. With having a Concealed Carry Permit, you've been checked by city police, state police and the FBI. How much more "enhanced" can they get? Maybe with use of a Proctorscope?

Example: Sportsmans Whs just sent out an email saying as of the 8th, they will not be able to sell any firearms due to the fact no one has a "permit" to do so. There will be numerous lawsuits, but in the meantime, we're all being held hostage and will be denied our 2A rights as of 8 December. WTF? How is this being allowed to happen? This passed narrowly by 1.5%, and all that came from the Ptld and Eugene metro areas. The balance of the entire state voted against SB114.

And lastly, it was hoped in the recent Oregon election we'd get a conservative governor. We almost did, but what we did get is a clone of the myopic liberal lesbian we had previously. Wish I wasn't so old, I'd be outta here in a heartbeat! Too old, too much crap, now this. (groan....)

As of yesterday in our local news paper, "the La Grande observer" there was a write up showing that now there are 29 of the 36 county's in the state saying no the sheriff's department won't enforce M114, not just the magazine ban. The last time I looked there was one or two who just mentioned the ban only.

There is also a very good chance any sheriff in eastern Oregon who doesn't agree with no on M114 will be looking for work in the near future. This type of B.S. from Salem Oregon isn't new here and yes it will go through the court system before its straightened out.

Now here on the normal side of things here on the east side of the state, I had a great time at the range yesterday because it's below freezing here and nobody else was there. I dug out my PSA GF3 from the back of the safe and ran a few boxes through it just for fun, ... I feel much better now! I put a peep sight on it and that made all the difference in the world as to group size.
What about the state troopers in those counties? What about the background check situation?

I think it was about 50 years ago or so when Oregonians would tell those in CA to visit but don't stay. I guess that didn't work out very well.

N ID is nice but thinking of moving to a place with a bit less snow. I can still deal with the super heavy wet snow now but who knows for how much longer. Getting real close to the 7th decade and figure I better move while I still can.

Thought of AZ since it was looking good before the election but no thanks after the results. Maybe near the Black Hills of SD that gets less snow than where I'm at but a bit colder.

We don't get the super heavy wet snow in Post Falls. It's almost always light and easy to remove.

For some reason in Spirit Lake the snow is usually wet and heavy like white mud. Once in awhile if it's cold enough, the snow is reasonably light. When I first moved here, I bought a very nice walk behind blower. Got rid of it since the heavy snow would just dribble out of the chute and all I would get is a workout. LOL Ended up just getting a tractor with a front blade and a good rear blower I ordered from eastern Canada.
It's a great place to live if you're young and healthy but gets kinda tough for old farts like me.

Looks beautiful. God bless winter.

Forgot to mention that I hate humidity more than snow. I never forget getting off the plane at Kadena AB, my first duty station back in '80. Couldn't see a thing since my specs steamed up going down the steps. That place was torture. LOL
I liked it there in 75-76 I was at Futema

Afret

One major part missing on that Kubota tractor. The heated cab. For this old fart that would be mandatory. Spent to many hrs opening up roadways, and driveways.

What a few in Oregon got voted in will be found unconstitutional. No matter how many voters voted for it, they cannot change the 2 nd amendment . The really sad part is the amount of time it will take to go thru our so called legal system

I'll bet it's some kind of lake effect that make your snow wet.

Why? Your county sheriffs are not elected?
Are they appointed?
Elected sheriff’s such as New York State and no one except the people can fire them.

I didn't intend to get a tractor when I had the house and shop built so the tractor roll bar barely clears the 8' garage door by 1" so a taller cab version wouldn't fit. It's also helpful not to have a cab going around really tight areas so I can visually check for clearance around the tires.View attachment 1385780
Those aren’t snow tires on the Fairlane! Is it a 67?

I’m sorry but I just don’t understand Oregon. A year ago we wandered into Oregon with no objective in mind. We needed gasoline so we checked prices and you were about $1.00 higher than Montana. We got enough to get us back to Montana and said screw Oregon if it’s going to be like that everywhere. Did I miss something? I mean with taxes and all?
I noted the same thin when I drove to Oregon a month ago. Gasoline was over a dollar per gallon more expensive.

This new Oregon "Law" will not pass the smell test in Federal Court. The Courts are bound by Justice Thomas's decision in the Bruen case. If the regulation wouldn't fly back at the time of the founding of the Republic, it won't fly now.

Yes the sheriff's elected here, and dropped kicked out if he piss's off the people who put him there. Our sheriff here was one of the first one's to say no to this round of stupidity from the morons on the left side of the state.
Oregon has for years been shrinking the amount of Oregon state troopers on this side of the state. Many of the ex troopers who live here feel just the same as everybody else on this side of the state.

I don't plan to move anywhere, this is home and I never learned how to back up and I don't plan to start now.
There is an old saying here that if you were to dig up every third fence post, ... you would find a gun buried there. It might turn out to be time to find out if that's true.
