Just a quick question on pulling bullets....

As alot of you have seen the post Split shoulders.... I now have inherited about 800 what I believe are reloads .223 55gr FMJ... I also don't believe in shooting reloads of unknown sources.... If I pull all the bullets can I save them for reloading in new brass..?? What are the pitfalls of loading pulled bullets if any..??? I have never loaded any pulled rounds but I know people do...

I will be using a kinetic hammer to pull all 800 I guess...

Thanks in advance...
Shawn

bring me some,I got a better way,and it don't mess them up,you can reuse them

You would be much better off using a Hornady cam-lock bullet bullet or the RCBS equivalent than using a kinetic puller especially with that many. For a few the kinetic is okay though. I think I used my kinetic less than half a dozen times then picked up the cam-lock puller. It is way less tedious and faster to boot.

I too will vouch for the Collet puller leaving you with good bullets for non-match use.

Keep an eye on the jackets and if it’s leaving marks you don’t like you can polish the inside of the collet to smooth the edges.

Despite what puller you'll use don't forget to to seat each projectile just a little deeper so to break any 'cold weld' that will test the hold of any bullet puller even the Hornady one I bought.
The kinetic pullers, yeah well I looked at those things for years then bought a proper tool.

I have pulled a bullets with a RCBS collect puller. The bullets are deformed a little and fall outside of the other 4 in a group.

Good advise.

Ok great advice. Thanks everyone again... These are certainly not match bullets , there just 55gr -fmj like military ball ammo...

Pulled bullets are for anything but matches ( FFing, foulers ect. ). You can inspect the outside of the bullet easy enough but not the inside/core integrity.
